Default alternative diff centre for mx32 cressida?

    hi all,

just wondering what alternative diff centres are available that will fit straight into an mx32 cressida.
cruising on the highway at 100-110 is rediculous, even before i fitted my new wheels. dont like it revving that high for sustained periods, especially on an unknown history engine.
i believe the standard ratio is 3.9?
i need a nice cruising diff.

    cheers.

You can check the ratios on www.toyodiy.com

I believe that MX32 is E series and that MX62 Cressida and early Tarago have E series also. Suspect the Tarago will be higher and hence not what you want

    Also Mk2 Corona's - MX10, MX12, MX22 - all run an E series. Unfortunately all that I have (and know of) are 3.9 or numerically higher. :/

Toyota's historically have always had short diff ratio's.
Where your Commodore and Falcon will have something between 2.77 and 3.08, your Toyota will generally be between 3.73 and 4.1

It's unlikely you'll be able to find something taller than 3.58 (and thats only 10% better than what you have), and its unlikely you'll find that in an E-series.

Your better option is to change the gearbox (I presume you only have a 3 speed auto, with no overdrive?)
If you want to remain auto, then get an MX62 or MA61 autobox. They shouldn't need any wiring except an O/D switch.
Or get a W58 5 speed manual gearbox.

Both these should drop the revs by 25%-30% in top gear.
