need to be able to get the thing to key start before I can sort out the idle
There's only 4 vacuum lines on the car: Fuel pressure regulator, brake booster, oil scavenging for the head, map sensor
Have discovered that the idle motor can have issues, so that'll be replaced.

i had a crack on the underside of manifold so it was a bitch to find, could also come from a buggered intake gasket as well.

That wouldn't happen all of a sudden though?
The car was working fine in the morning until about 11ish.

I wasn't prepared to pull off the air filter. I was at a dirt track & it was very dusty. Too clogged air filter (unboxed pod type) be any kind of cause?

The symptoms seemed to start after I accidentally tried to start the car in gear with the clutch out (because I bypassed the clutch "safety" switch). Would this have any effect?

This is the problem with EFI, having to trouble shoot...

Jumped started from the revving diesel tow car. Took some effort though as normally I don't even bother starting it or just have it idling. Excel idled fine until I disconnected the jumper leads.
Put the battery on charge tonight.
Doesn't help that the multimeter died also.

Sorry if I'm cluttering up the thread.

You are Steve, but that seems pretty normal for these track day threads, with tales of massive "to do" lists and the woes and hurdles that occur along the way.

So it seems your posts are just par for the course

Hey, we can't all have neat, tidy, well sorted and ready-to-go cars.

Haha . I think its good that these track days seem to motivate people to both use and improve their cars! Even if it does mean a last minute dash in most cases

Steve, you know that means your alternator is dead. Charging your battery is only a very temporary fix.
Garth, Mitch and I will join the fun if you don't mind.
Barring me putting it into a wall this weekend at the hill climb I should have no issues.
You boys talking about tyres Bugger me.... I own a tyre shop and still just paid near on $2k for 4 tyres that will die if I do 4 laps at Wakefield. Soft compound yokes. It would seem that everyone is pulling out all stops for the weekend and I have been bullied into trying harder. Oh well, these tyres will sit for just hill climb/sprint events.
I usually only need retreads to go faster than you boys at Wakefield anyway!
    .
    .
    ........bite here please......

Garth, you must see me early on the day and just confiscate my car. It would seem I have had an excuse every time for the last year. Car seems bulletproof again after last outing....
