    Default 1uz Front main seal

    Hi all,

I have a slight suspicion that my front main seal might be leaking - though the water pump is bad, so it could be that.

Seeing as I have the front end apart right now, is there an easy way to change the front main seal? I noticed that the front spindle/cog wheel doesn't slide off easily.

    Do these things leak much?

How do I get it off?

It should slide off easily. Its probably just gummed up.
A decent puller or a couple of strategically placed screwdrivers should do it.

Are the 1uz front mains known for leaking?

It isn't the most common leak but not unusual. Pulley should come off without too much drama, not sure but the bolt on front main is usually freaking tight but not sure on 1uz's. I would definitely change it while you have access.
