I'm wanting to build/have built a custom alloy fuel tank but have no idea on the legalities of such a thing in NSW.
Does anyone know the rules or know of a shop to even bounce the question off? I will of course still have to speak to the engineer but at this hour and while I'm actually thinking of it, it's just best to throw the question up here.

www.ozclubbies.com.au forum might be able to help, their tanks are made from sheet aluminium.
The tank needs to be certified by an approved manufacturer/fabricator. And generally this means they will have to make it themselves.
In WA there are only about 10 people who can do this. Find out from the RTA who can do this.
An engineer shouldn't have to get involved unless you start modifying the structure of the car.
