Default Brake pads for the Corolla, tell me what you use and what you reckon.

So it's time to choose brake pads for my Levin.

I used to use Endless SSS pads and I loved them, but they've been discontinued (SSY seems to be the replacement). But I thought I'd look at some other brands as my current Levin isn't supercharged or anything.

Basically, my list so far of what I've found that is available is as follows (in no particular order); front, rear.

    - Bendix CT - DB308, DB1147 (they don't make Ultimates for the Corollas)
    - EBC Greenstuff - DP2453, DP2629
    - Ferodo - FDS308, DB1147FTQ
    - Endless SSY - EP076SSY, EP133SSY

Anyone got any experiences or suggestions? Also, cheap places to buy the better ones?

I've used ferodo ds2500 series on my ae82 with AE92 sx series 2 brakes. They were pretty good. I've also driven an ae92 sx 20v with series 2 brakes and greenstuff pads, again pretty good.I'm not a fan of bendix, any pad iv used of theirs just rips up discs as if they are sandpaper pads..... Sooooo much brake dust.

Do you remember the part numbers for the Ferodo pads at all?

erm, no.... but they are a DB308 type pad.
You call any decent brake shop and ask for DB308 pads, in Ferodo DS2500 series.

May i recommend B&R Brakes in Castle Hill (NSW)? They give trade price to Toymods members..... but not sure if they post. They are just around the corner from me so i just pick up when i need things

When did they stop making Ultimates for the Corolla? I used to run Greenstuffs all-round, still got them on the back but changed the fronts to Ultimates when they wore out, stopping power was about the same as the Greenstuffs but dust was non-existant in comparison (in saying that though, my Greenstuffs were the old kind that are dustier than Broken Hill in the middle of a dust-storm, I believe they've improved a lot since then).

I don't know, I was sure I had seen them before....
The Bendix website only lists the CT pads now, although I have found a set of NOS Bendix metal kings for the front on eBay.

Fairly sure I'm running the DB1267 instead of the DB308 as well, might be a difference between the JDM and ADM models (although I thought the 102 had the same brakes as the Levins, with the ADM 101s having slightly lesser setups incl. rear drums)

Yeah, there were two variants for the front brakes, The DB308 are used on the 'Akebono' callipers, whereas the DB1267 are used on the 'Sumitomo' callipers.

    I have the Akebono ones.

Bendix GCT + slotted rotors is a big NONO (and that's coming from a TECH at BENDIX!)

Hmmm, well that rules Bendix out then, thanks for the heads up.

Why is that? Do the rotors chew up the pads?

If you're looking at EBC pads best place I've found to go is eBay, there are plenty of sellers in the UK (where EBC are from) and even with shipping it is cheaper than the eBay shops in Aus, let alone most other online/bricks+mortar places. Got the Redstuffs for the Soarer that way, heeeaps cheaper.

Yeah, I can get a full set posted for under $210.
I can get a set of Endless SSY pads through Import Monster for $315, almost $100 cheaper than the Australian distributor, just gotta find a more direct channel from Japan.....

I've always found bendix to eat more rotor metal than slow the car down...

Will never buy bendix. Just my preference

Hmmm, I found a full set of the Endless SSY pads for about $250 shipped (rough quote).
Let's see what Jesse Streeter can do....

The Endless pads are looking good so far.
