RA40 struts fit the TA23 perfectly
Hi there,
i am engineering brake caliper brackets to mount the RX7 fc 4 piston calipers and i wil be using nissan S13 brake discs, wonderfull fit D. The calipers will be milled out of solid steel. i am a little afraid to use aluminium because this is my last resort before death haha. Somewere i found a dwg drawing here on the forum and i am converting it to a solid model with logic dimensions that i can alter to fit the caliper to every diameter disc, i can even rotate the final position of the caliper in my model
i want to modify my strut and i have to buy a second set. Would the RA40 celica struts fit or would this be a no go. And i have read something about shortened shocks when i want to change to adjustable coilovers but wich shocks are recomended. I want to buy the DIY set of T3 better known as techno toy tuning
the second reason i want a little stronger struts is that i bought a 1gfe engine and 6speed gearbox for a laughing 200 euro's hahaha engine ran 100000k LOL
actually i bought a complete lexus IS200 but without the body/shell.
This becomes the new driveline in my TA23 celica so i have to modify my brakes a little. But i don't know if i have to use stronger axlespindles. AE86 is not an option here in Europe (even more rare than a 1/2JZ engine weird enough), but i found a set of an RA40. Would these fit or should i stick with the original ones?
RA40 struts fit the TA23 perfectly

That is good to know, are there any significant differences between the two of them? or is it not worth converting? I know that i have more choice in performance parts when i would use the ta40 ones. for example shock absorbers. otherwise i stick to the original ones en i can exhange them when modifying and test every improvement.
I want to convert them to adjustable coilover, with the DIY kit from T3. And then i would have to use different shock absorers, but i dont know which is should use
Not sure about TA40 struts, but RA23, 28 and 40 struts are identical and have larger spindles and bearings than the TA23 items.

"They" told me TA40 struts only have larger diameter shocks, spindles are the same. But here everybody that has done a wicked engine mod used the stock struts and never had any problems OR changed to AE86 or supra. So i will start using the stock ones because I dont want to mess to much with the steering geometry. I have read enough about worse handling when changing struts, LCA, and steering parts. I figured out nobody has the "wonder setup" and many people change back to stock and handling improved....
I can confirm what Owen said about the spindle size and the guys at T3 helped me confirm the correct coilover kit for my 23. They also helped with choosing a strut insert to match. I'm also running FC calipers but over MPV discs on a standard 23/28/40 strut. Had to machine the hub diameter a little (155mm from memory) to fit the disc though.
If you use Solidworks I can most likely send you a solid model of these adaptors. Will just have to have a dig through the archives. Let me know an email address if it'd save you some work.
I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.
i would really like that model of the adapters if you can. when ever.
are the MPV disk's 280mm or bigger ?
cheers.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.
I'll run calipers over them tomorrow but I think yes.
thanx heaps man, or just let us know what model mpv they are off and ill search it.
i searched for mvp disks a while ago and got a few listings.
cheers !
