You could try going to a machine shop and get a set of hubcentric ring spacers machined up on a lathe, that will keep the disc centred. Wheel stud size change may affect the rim going over the stud.

So I have a BW78 pintara diff that has been cut down to suit my ta22, with custom billet axles and a 5x114.3 pattern on the hub. I figured that a set of EB falcon rear brakes should fit on without too much trouble, so I went to my local u pull it and grabbed a set, but when I put the rotors on the hubs I realised I have a bit of movement. There's a little bit of play on the studs and about 0.5mm-1mm clearance on the centre. You can wiggle them around a bit and i'm figuring that this is probably not ideal as it isn't staying centred... I'm not sure if the driveline place has screwed something up somewhere, but i'm not about to go back and bay a buttload to get things changed.
I know it's not toyota, but what i'm asking is how much of a problem this is, and is there anything that can be done to fix it?

Ahh I was thinking of those, but couldn't figure out what they were called.. Won't the disc rotating on the hub still be an issue though?

Yes and no for the disc, the wheel clamps the disc to the hub, if you are concerned about the disc movement you could possibly look for studs with a thicker shank, maybe something from NICE PRODUCTS will do google them

ahh good call, might take one of these studs into a local place and get them to recommend me a particular stud, that way i know exactly what to look for.. Thanks heaps for the info, do you reckon I still need the spacer if i get different studs?

You'll find all rotor have clearance around the studs like this, aids ease of fitment.
It's not a drama since as stated the pressure of the wheel against the hub clamps the rotor in place.
The clearance in the centre however is a big problem as your brakes will be out of balance if the rotor is not perfectly centred on the hub therefore you'll need to get some 'hubcentric' rings machined up to suit.
hmm, yeah i figure i can get the hubcentric rings made, and if it still looks like it has plenty of movement i'll get new studs as well![]()

don't worry about the stud clearance.. stock have maybe 2mm movement, but with right sized hub, that is all in rotation direction.
once upon a time, i set the discs up so the disc was "forward" to see if heavy braking was enough to make the disc move behind the wheel... it wasn't..
even if it did move, it will stop rotating backwards when it touches the studs.. and there is no force ever trying to make the discs move forward.
getting bigger studs to stop disc possibly moving makes no difference to putting the disc on and rotating to take up slack it in the direction that brakign will move it.
just get the rings made up, and should be sweet.
