turbos were pretty damn good, i got a set from smokee, and used the good one from his set, and the good one from my set... so out of 4 turbos, they were the best 2...
gonna have to attack it again next weekend i think... make sure it all goes back better then best...

i didn't put any rags in the pipes... but it may have sucked down a small furry animal, such as a camel...

RAd28, you sound like you have a similar problem to me !!!
at last someone else has this sorta problem..
To describe it better, would u say that when ur getting near 5 - 6 psi and your gearbox changes from 2nd - 3rd you get a major jolt in the gearchange/spooling ?
As if the revs drop to 1000 for a split second and the psi drops to 0 then shoot back up to 2-3k - 5psi as your foot goes down further ?
If yo have this same problem, i hope you figure it out coz i need to know how to fix it aswell...
then again , my gearbox is quite screwed and thats probably the issue there. but then again , it doesnt jolt unless im on boost if im just taking it easy its smoooth as,
i might take my boost controller out and just hook the pipes up stock and see if that changes it..
wow... umm nah, that's nothing like it.. it runs smooth, in terms of gear change etc, just around the 5psi mark, you loose power, it sounds like a dog (my first thought is that it sounds like a bad V8 with a bad exhaust)... and you don't get more then about 6-7psi...
about your problem... what happens if you just depress the clutch with out shifting??? what car you got it in? aftermarket ecu or stock?

Any chance of the spark breaking down??
5 psi is the most pressure that the ignition can take before being blown out??
It is a long shot, but it would cause it to run like a sack of shit, sound like a dodgey V8, and limit power, and *** maybe *** limit building boost any higher. . . .
It is not the most likely cause, but i have seen simmilar things happen before. . .
nah, engine should run 11psi stock... ignition should handle well over 15psi...

Yes, that is true, but coils can burn out, leads from coils to dizzy can crack etc etc.
Just something to think of.
does it happen only when you get to 5-6psi or does it happen at a revrange does it happen on vacum at that rev-range etc? if so the dizzy may have a crack in it, leads could be earthing out etc etc. if it defintly isnt a vacum leak try those or just inspect them to see if there ok? throw some injector cleaner in you never know it may not be able to get the fuel in there.
it cant hurt, relatively cheap or free alternatives

i'm gonna sleep better tonight... i realised where the problem is... when i was putting it back together, i busted a hose clamp on the front turbo rubber coupler... had nothing to repair it with when i did it, and was pissed off to boot, 'cause the water lines had given me such grief... so i thought F*** IT! and just put it back....

Ahh the simplest things! Hope all goes well.

well... now i have 2 problems... the hose clamp did jack all... and now i have a big dent in the right rear guard... some old african fella drove his lexan into me!! i was doing a U turn at the lights, and he came from a "turn left at any time with care" and straight into me..
'77 RA28LT #2 ← 2.2L 18RG...
damn. Unlucky.
Just on that note... Its a technicality in the road rules that the police could not clearly answer for me either...
Apparently (bullshit) if you dont have a green arrow (ie only the "straight ahead" green light showing) then you will both be at fault, because you must give way to all other vehicles to turn... If you have a green arrow however, go for your life and dont even look coz if they hit you - their fault.
So what would you do if you're sitting at a green "straight ahead" light, turning right and there is a car coming towards you. Then he indicates left and starts driving through a well radiused "anytime with care" turn left lane.
I would wait, coz be damn sure that he is only looking at whats coming up from his right and will now be behind him as he turns in - not whats infront and about to turn into him...
But wait. Next time you have a green arrow. Your not having your most attentive day of your life and you just turn in - BANG - The same dickhead just drove straight round the "anytime" lane and into the side of you.
I think every "TURN LEFT ANYTIME WITH CARE" sign should be replaced with "GIVE WAY" and lets face it, its just a polite way to say the same thing, and the people on the roads who need instruction are not the polite ones anyway...
meh...
