Default How to change radio in 1994 Corolla AE92?

I have a 1994 Holden Nova which is a rebadged Corolla with auto & 4A-FE engine. I think the Corolla is called an AE92 and the Holden an AF92.

I want to remove the old radio and fit a CD player. All I can see is four screws in the top panel that covers the speedo to the right & covers the radio to the left.

Can anyone tell me what panels I need to remove to get to the radio. Are there hidden screws or is most of it held in with spring loaded type plastic clips.

Also, what electrical connector is at the back to attach the CD player to? I have a conversion adaptor that goes from a single plug that fits the Sony CD player to two separate sockets one with 8 pins and the other with 5 pins. The two plugs are the same size, one coloured brown and the other black. Does anyone know if this is all I need?

    Thanks.

    Peter

Remove the screws from the cluster surround, remove the screws from the lower dash panel, then you should see the screws for the part under the clust that goes all the way up to radio area, undo these screws and unplug the hazard light, rear defogger and maybe the wiper if it has it, now you should be able to GENTELY pull the center part out, the part with the vents in, un plug cig lighter, now the radio will be exposed, 4 goldy coloured selft tapper screws, remove radio,
As for plugs mine had 2 I think but I'm not sure, if u have the plug kit, just plug and play,
Just for advice some of the screws are well hidden so don't go all hulk on it and break it

Thanks. Is the cluster panel the large one that has the clear plastic covering the speedo & combined radio surround? It's the one fastened at the top through into the padded top cover.

I know what you mean by hidden screws. On my Cressida, one of the screws was inside the vent and you had to rotate it down and look into it with a torch to see the screw.

Yes but the clear plastic stays behind, that is part of the cluster, should be 4 screws up the top and about 3 or 4 along the bottom- you can see them once the bottom panel has been removed
