Oman you silly bugger! As if I would ever drill a cam without pulling it out of the engine!! I would have had to put it in the drill press anyway... but I have heard the steel in a cam and cam gear is hardened steel, so would have to send to a machine shop to get it drilled?

    Hi Dana,
The cam and cam gear are cast iron, they are a nice fine grade, but relatively easy to drill.
I did mine in the mill with two fat steel parallel bars so the the cam was well clear of the mill bed.
I rested the back of the cam gear on the parallels.

    I hope that makes sense.

Ok peoples, i think im just a dumbass, cos i went and had a looksee on friday night, and tried a different combination on the cam gears and well, it worked! Dunno why I didnt try it last time, I have no idea! But sometimes I find if you get stuck and leave it sit for ages, when you go back to it, it will all fall into place. Well I guess thats what happened this time.

So last night i took if for a test drive and its pretty good, considering. It could probably do with a dyno tune still, but its fine to drive around on at the moment, and I cant afford the dyno right now anyway.

So thanks everyone for putting up with my crap once again, yous all deserve some rep. I will keep yous posted once its tuned a bit better. For now, I can just enjoy cruising around it her again

Good to hear it worked out. You really need to play with the cams on the Dyno to get full benefit out of them, but good to see that you have a decent starting point.
