On the wiring diagram, solenoid block looks like a number of inductances and a resistor, it's usually depicted below ECU. It would have pins called something like SLT,SLU,SLN (not all of them) and like S1,S2 ... etc. Additionally, it must have a temp.sensor shown as resistor, its output is usually designated as OIL.

Pretty sure yrnristo has similar pinouts to sc400
And they have a 3 pin black plug for the solenoids
    One is solenoid a
    Solenoid b
    And lockup converter solenoid

Trace them back to ecu or look for diagram
I can find one in two seconds on google
Then fit a test light on sol a and sol b wires
To see if the ecu is controlling the auto

But then i want to ask. What do this big cable doing to the car and the gearbox? The one i have the picture on? Because when i did have a problem with the reverse they did tell me to take it loose and try putting in R and se if it did work. And it did. But now that problem is gone. But can it have more problems with how the gear is change ?

    I don't understand yr problem
Reverse gear is hydraulic operated so it doesn't need electronics
So if the gear lever is in rev then u will get reverse
Now make sure when in 1st on box it's first on gear lever and so on all other gears
Once u fix that see if it changes gears ok when in drive
Put it in drive and see if it goes 1. 2. 3.
Don't worry bout when gear lever is in first or second
Let's get it working in drive

The earlier problem was that the car didn't go in reverse when i put in R. But now that's done and working. But when it didn't work someone did say to me to try take the big cable and hook it lose and se if the car moving in reverse and that i did. And we were all shocket that it could just do that but if we put the cable back in the gearbox it didn't move in reverse But that is an old problem. So that is why i ask what the big cable that i have the pics on doing? When i put in D it drives 1,3,4 but i don't have the 2 gear so that's what im seeking now

If you mean the cable on the pictures you posted 14 aug. 02:38 AM , it simply tells the computer which transmission range is currently selected (p/r/n/d/2/l), it also enables starter relay when in P or N.

that big plug doesnt do much with the engine ecu
it just tell sthe ecu the gear shifter is in 1st or 2nd
but 99% of time u normally use "d" or "3"
if the gearbox does not have any electricals to the solenoids
    u get 1st 3rd and 4th gears
so maybe yr are getting that

so first make sure the engine ecu is sending a signal to the solenoids to change gears
u need to know if the engine ecu does the auto to or are u wasting your time

Jepp that's the next thing to do is to check if the signal is going from Ecu to 1 solenoid and 2 solenoid.

In regard to test lights as 'dumbass' said, I did the same with my cressida fitted with A340e. I went round the rubbish piles looking for an old computer. These have several LEDs in them with long & thin trailing wires. I just stripped the ends bare and slid a wire into each of the solenoid wires coming out of the main plug in the computer. (The other wires went to earth.) I then took the car for a drive and found the computer was sending out the right signals but the gearbox solenoids weren't always making the changes. It ended up being a cracked earth solder joint on one of the solenoids which I needed a magnifying glass to see.
