Gene, need any people for the chicane teams?
TECCWA intends to have a display of our Toyotas at the Shannon's Classics on the Park as part of Targa West on Sunday 19th August.
We had approximately 20 cars at the event last year, and would like to do the same again this year, or possibly more if the interest is high enough, cars are suitable and organisers give us enough space.
Current List - let me know if you want to be added/removed:
- Toyota GT 86, possibly 2 (Dealer)
- Toyota TA22 2TGT Celica - SPIDA
- Toyota TA22 Rotary Celica - Ian
- Toyota RA23 1GZE Celica - Mitch
- Toyota RA23 Celica 1GTE - Magnum76
- Toyota MA61 Supra - Peter
- Toyota MA61 Supra - Aaron.W
- Toyota RA28 Celica - Tom
- Toyota MS57 Crown - Clint
- 1988 Toyota Cressida MarkI - Sara
- Toyota ST165 Celica - Fred

As such, we're in the process of organising our entry, and I'd like to start getting an idea of who is interested in participating. If you're keen, let me know, either here or by emailing me at [email protected].
Those who know me, know that I'll be in charge of the Chicane teams operating on Riverside Drive on the day, and that there'll be plenty of action to see, including VSCC racing and Targa West cars later in the day.
The flyer for the display is below, but TECCWA will be submitting our application in order to get a suitably large area for our cars together.

It's just a thought at this stage, but I may even see if we can get a Toyota dealer to display an 86 as part of our display. Watch this space... Or if you have contacts, let us know. Better yet, someone actually has one by then too.

Yes, we always welcome help running Chicanes. At the City of Perth stage, we'll be running 4 chicanes this year, so extra bodies are good. Or, even better, if you can get a team together of 2-3 people for Saturday, we have some stages we need to cover. Let me know if/how you can help.

I've sent of the application form for TECCWA for 20 cars, also indicating that we have a dealer planning to supply a GTS 86 for display on the day also.
The ball's rolling, just need more commitments from people with cars to make this a good day.
Remember there'll be VSCC events in the morning, followed by Targa West stages in the afternoon. You cars will need to be in place for 0800, and can't be removed until 1600.

Anyone with an AE86 Sprinter would be great - so we can put it next to the GTS 86. A S800 and 2000GT would be good, but I'm not sure if there's any within our grasp.

As an update, please note that cars will need to be in place at 0800 and cannot be removed until 1600.
There "may" be opportunity for some cars to do a parade lap, but we'll have to wait and see.
Also, City of Perth are being VERY strict on who can park on Langley Park for Targa West this year. So, you WILL NOT be able to park there unless you're part of one of the static car displays such as this. So, it is important I have everyone who will be wanting to as I won't be able to guarantee access otherwise. I'm not sure if they'll be providing stickers or just excluding cars parked in our area from infringements.

If my car needs to be in place no later than 8am, I'll need to drop it off more like 6:30am so that I can get back to the Malaga stage and setup before it runs.
Will anyone be around that early to hand my keys over to?

Christian and I will need to be down there to get my car in and start organising the Chicanes for City of Perth, so we may very well be there that early. Especially if it helps you get your car down.
Also want to make sure the dealer and their 86 have someone to greet them and help make the display a success.
Probably running out of time, but I thought Peter Briggs had an original Toyota S800 in his collection (York?). Wonder what the chances of getting it to the display would be?

I can also confirm that at least a few of our best cars will be allowed to take part in a Parade Lap of the stage after the VSCC racing and before the Targa West stages are run.
Assuming there's someone there to drive their own cars :-)
