Standard will be fine, although being a 20yr old radiator dont be surprised when it fails - when it does, use one of the chunky full alloy China spec replacements.
Hey all,
Just a quick one as I've searched and can't seem to find the answer. How much power would my 1jz need to pull before I should think upgrading my radiator? To add I'm using a 2jz water pump, new clutch fan unit and mx83 blades. The new clutch fan unit is amazing pulls so much air through.
Your thoughts would be most appreciated
Thank you

I actually saw those china alloy ones but because I'm using a clutch fan setup with the mx83 shroud so I'm quite tight for space.
Anyone out there with the same setup that can shed some light?
not exact same, but yes - if the rad is in good condition, it'll be fine. If it's got 50% bent fins and is only flowing 40% of what it did new, you'll need a new one - measure what space you have to work with, and put in an alloy one that fits. You could either take your rad to a specialist to get it tested, or just put it in and see what happens, and replace when/if necessary. Depends if you want to do it all perfectly first time, or don't mind messing around a bit further down the road
Thanks for your input guys. I guess the reason why I'm asking is i need to buy a new radiator. I have a gt30 single setup on my 1jz so power has increased and If a new std mx83 radiator is sufficient then great I'll just stick to that.
I had a bigger radiator in there before but the fan blades tore it to shreds due to the limited amount of space when the engine rocked.
