Im about to get one of the US made ones from a group buy done awhile ago.. I'll let you know how that goes.

Out of interest for those running the W5x in the AE86, what gearbox xmember did you use?

For those guys with the Dellow housings... what did you do to fix the crookedness of the box? I've got your old box still waiting to go in Bigworm, any pointers for fixing the tilt? I'm using TRD engine mounts which are identical to standard but with harder rubber.

I made my own crossmember, and left the box on an angle. I then made a slightly odd looking gearstick to compensate... Worked out alright though, stick comes up where it is supposed to and works fine.

Well doesnt seem too hard then. The xmember will be custom so that wont be a problem. Just to get an idea, how many degrees out are we talking from the horizontal plane? More than 10deg?

    Thanks for the input everyone.

The reason I'm asking about this problem is that as I'm redoing my engine mounts due to the AE71 rack & pinion conversion I'm doing, it would be nice to restore the factory tilt of the motor to give a bit more clearance between the sump & crossmember/rack, but I'd only attempt this with a better bellhousing, one that provides for the factory tilt.
If any of the other bellhousings out there do this, I'd strongly consider getting one & flogging off the dellow abortion I currently put up with.

Eddie, I used I think the RA60/65 gearbox crossmember that came with the box (pretty much bolted straight up to the '23) but had to put a 10mm or so spacer between the L/H side of the crossmember & the body, and this was with the engine mounted straight. Also iirc the passenger side of the crossmember was a fair bit more than just 10mm lower than the drivers side, but the flexible mount combined with the spacer seemed to do enough.
So if the motor's on a tilt already, the box would be on even more of an angle. Though maybe sprinters are a little more accomodating to this problem than my Celica.

A bit off topic, I'll be updating my members rides thread soon, I've bolted the crossmember & rack into place, tried to position the motor in the right spot, and realised the sump needs to meet the angle grinder, which will be a good opportunity to increase its capacity.....
