R154. Or v160 if you got the cash

What's needed apart from box, bell housing, clutch fly wheel and cylinders??
hey would a r254 gearbox from a toyota dyna be any good running behind a 1jz, it seems to be a cast iron box vs the alloy r154 so would be stronger, just couldnt find any info on the ratios anywhere on the net,
Your main options are as said R154 and V160, you could also get W58 box (pending how much torque your putting through it). Any other gearbox e.g. the r254 may work but it would be a completely custom one of bellhousing you'd need to get made which will cost in its own the cost of a R154.
Approx pricing of gearboxs as follows: (pending condition and greediness of seller, there is occasional bargains aswell e.g. someone had a brandnew in box W58 on ebay last week for $300)
R154 - $1000 -> $2000
V160 - $2000 -> $4500
W58 - $600 -> $1500
Don't bother with a W58, they are rated to 220Nm~
I've heard of more shattering behind boost/V8's than I have of them being reliable (personally know of someone going through 3 behind a mild 351 clevo......... cracked the shits and got a TKO600). They are a stop gap measure if you have one sitting around or already in the car.
Only option is the R154, looking at $1500 for one but fuck, spend a bit more and get it rebuilt with a new 1st thrust washer. $2k aint too bad, they dont break.
You could fit a V160 but why bother? You can buy a T56/6060 and get it mated for the cost of a V160 from a wrecker. Most seem to want $4k which is a scam, also doesnt fit many cars that well.
What a coincidence..........
