There are very very very few users ive seen that contribute crap, and they stick out like dogs balls.

also, id like to add that i beleive all of these complicated systems, and features/functions make these forums less pleasurable to use, especially the inevitable longer load times that the users with 56k connections are no doubt experiencing.

the old forums were to the point, simple, and did their job well.

the opinion of a forums user, this site is worth its weight in gold when it comes to information, as such i wont stop using it, however im just disapointed that, rather than build on the old forums, and fix the very few issues that there were, the whole system was stripped and redone, creating a new set of issues, and solving none of the old problems.

No, people have paid attention to you.....

... however the simple fact of the matter is: these are the Toymods forums, and this is how it's set up. No amount of complaining, arguing etc is going to change it back to the way it was - you are only wasting everyone's time.

I dont think i'll ever be reading this thread again... not worth the time / effort

In a way i like the reputation thing since alot of technical information is popping up all over the place but getting reputation seems to much of a concern for alot of the people on here and it takes alot of time to gain.

I know if you become a member reputation wouldn't mean anything since you get your avatar and able to post in the sale sections, so if your a member and post dribble are you able to get banned?

Also as an example if someone just visited the forum for the first time and had something extremely rare that they wanted to get rid of and 100 people on here would kill to get there hands on it. They would have to sign up, then wait to be authorised, then they would have to give to the toymods community by posting tons of technical information or spend money to become a member.

In the old forums the were tons of things for sale that would of seemed hard to get and people from different countries would sign up to get them parts. As much as technical information is good, the factor of resources should be considered aswell.

Whats the of point of having information on a part if you can't find the part that your looking for and vise versa.

I agree with the above comment.

I also like the idea of a 25 rep point privilege short term as it does seem quite hard to get there. I don’t think I post useless stuff and I help out wherever I can (I am not a mechanic! ) and I have done a tutorial which I thought could help some people (but because it is on autos I doubt many people cared) and got 1 rep point for all the hard work. Barely seems worth it.

I am sure there is a lot of stuff that people want to sell that other people are looking for but the fact is that people don’t know what is available. .

The problem is that for every one of these people there are at least ten more who want to abuse the forums as a free classifieds service. On the old forum it took a hell of a lot of moderation time to attempt to keep commercial sellers out of the for sale area and it wasn't working, this along with rewarding people for contributing to the community is the reason for requireing rep to post threads in for sale.

It's quite easy to contact the board of the club if someone has something they are trying to sell which they think is of great use to our members and this does happen at times.

EldarO it is your opinion that the old forums "did their job well" and that's cool everyone is entitled to their opinion. It was the opinion of the club that provides the forums that the old forum was an embarassment that we were no longer happy to be associated with. There were a hell of a lot of problems with the old forums which the new forums have ressolved:
    1. Slow load times
    2. Retards just signing up to post random crap
    3. Commercial sellers abusing the for sale areas
    4. Spamming of rubbish to the tech sections, now that it can be peer moderated
    5. Scammers in the for sale area

Sure it doesn't fix every problem but it is a hell of a lot better than the old forum and the things people are bitching about are a much smaller concern for the club than previously. The fact is you can't please all of the people all of the time. To be quite honest we don't want to please all of the people. Those who abused the old forums necessitating these changes are high on the list of people we aren't trying to please.

I wish it would scroll back to the post of the user you were giving rep to, once you had given them rep. It's annoying finding the post you were up to again (especially if you are giving negative rep, as the posts were utter crap)

Or is this just my problem?

Karl and Joshstix, i understand you both, i guess i didnt see quite the side of the of the forums you did.

My only gripe is the fac tthat the forums have become that bit more complicated, which makes using them as i want them to a little bit harder, i guess, just like everything, it will take getting used to.

dont take what im saying as whinging, im simply giving you guys feedback.

Sadly, the biggest loss with the new changes is the lack of hand warmers

i do agree that commerial sales were a hassel but the toymods community are still loosing out on having a wide range of avalible parts.

I still agree that the reputation thing is good but only to an extent like having max rep points.

Also like if 5 people with privialges are needed to give a person selling privilages - this would stop commercial threads and would help to stop spamming.

I still offer my time if you are looking for moderators since i'm on these forums everyday

    Exactly what I was thinking.

The only change I think needed is that a comment is mandatory when giving reputation.

It sounds like you're going through all the posts and looking to give people reputation. That's now how the system is intended. Nobody is going to read every single thread on any forum in its entirety. The idea of rep is to give it when you come across something that you think deserves it. If you're scrolling through the posts and looking to give rep then I think that is:
    a) Very sad and a waste of time. Why would you go looking through all the posts just to give rep. Aren't there better things to do?
    b) Not how the use of forums is intended.

If you're not and I misunderstood what you said then I apologise.

i think at the moment it is only club members who are moderators, and it should stay that way IMO as the forums are the responsibility of the club and club members are currently doing a good job.

on the point of not being able to access as many parts, i asked the wuestion before but not sure if there was a answer or not.

but is it alright to put a little one line for sale ad in your signature?
    just like:

for sale: ae82 parts for sale PM for details

    is that allowed?

i find the same thing... you are reading through a thread (and yes, i read almost all tech threads, membership threads, and most general car threads), and you see a post that deserves rep, so you do so, and then when it eloads, you have to scroll down to find where you were up to...
a minor inconvenience, but would be nice if there was an easy fix...

it's not that we are scrolling thru threads looking to give rep... sometimes i don't read a thread (if it has a title that doesn't interest me directly) until there are a reasonable number of posts in it, indicating that some kind of decent discusion is going on..
i'm sure othr ppl read the forums this way also

i'm pretty sure this is what Esteban meant....
