i dont have a problem with how the current forums are set up, im not a member(yet) and dont look at toymods as a place to sell things, on the old forum i posted up a few things for friends, but if i hadnt have been able to do it wouldnt have been a problem, seeing as there is more emphasis on the tech side of things now i can only see the quality of information improving. and keeps all the people from posting incorrect information as they will soon find themselves in negative rep land.
Get your facts straight, I did not make the original thread that I posted in. I did not make any of the threads about the subject thanks.

sometimes you just have to look on the funny side of things...

i got a neg rep with the comment
"your rep count is too high, this'll bring ya down a peg"

i found this funny , although if it happened too often i should mention it to mods, but meh.. it was balanced out by another +ve rep soon anyway... (and as i said before, i am not a seller so what does it matter to me and anyway.. i'm a paid member so rep doesn't matter for selling...)

lol, i'm not surprised. There's bound to be a bit of 'tall poppy' sentiment about the place once someone has gotten an appreciable rep, but no doubt this will be balanced by +ve rep for constructive comments that earnt the rep in the first place.

Here's hoping things quieten down a bit once everyone is use to the system...

I have so far given out 4 negative reps that i can think of....
    .... and about 100 positives.

Im sure oldcorollas balance is somewhat similar, and as time goes on, im sure most people's will be! The rep system seems harsh now, but so far it's doing its job, and in the long run will see these forums reach a quality of content we only ever dreamed of!

Just look at all the useful threads started this week alone! I'm stoked!!

Stu, im only 207 of 438.... but i'll catch your percentage dammit!

go into your control panel... Edit: i'm a Wookie public profile as stated below.. not userCP
there is shows post count (ie counted posts) (top left??)
then go to "show all posts" and that will have a list of all your posts and it has the total number of posts made at top right..

Is it control panel or just click on your own forum name to get the info you speak of Stewart?

Click on your username and select the public profile.

I'm sitting on 54/162 which is exactly 1/3!! A lot of the non-tech posts have been answering queries around here I suppose.

the way i see it, is that we are not here to whinge and whine (depending on thread subject) BUT rather to share information, have a chat and a laugh and be merry

if you do not have anything constructive to say, anything positive to say (depending on topic of conversation) or anything to really contribute, then dont post...

its not a matter of 'if you dont know anything then shut up' but rather if it is not going to lead to the greater good of this community then we dont want to know or hear bout it (especially in tech section and for sale section). personally i dont care if you can buy something thats for sale cheaper somewhere else, if someone is selling something for $100 and you can get it for $50 somewhere else, then good for you! go buy it and save yourself some money OR sell it here and make some money, but i hate seeing another persons thread/sale being slandered for it... it happened alot on the old forums and i HOPE it doesnt happen here, and im sure it wont with the rep system in place cause people will think first before slandering someone else...

for example, if someone visits the site for the first time and they open a 'How to' thread and see all this rambling and slander going on then it is not going to portray the toyota/this community as a friendly one. and everyone i have met, spoken to and delat with have been GREAT people bar a few, and those few should not have the ability to bring the community down for everyone else...

anyway thats how i see it and i TOTALLY agree with the rep system... im sure that i will get -ve points some time and if it is warranted then FINE i deserved it but coming here and saying 'this is shit...' and 'this is f#$%ed...' is not going to earn you the respect you want/deserve...

    cheers

PS. i have yet to see one post with slander in it sonce the new forums started, so the rep system must be doing something right, but then again i dont read every single post
