Yeah, and as mentioned before, usernames with "drift" in them seem to be attracting negative rep.

    Sigh.

Had this username for about 5 years on forums and other unrelated car sites, games, etc way before toymods... toymods is the only place I have come across issues. .... and no I am not a member of ns.com before someone says anything

Love how people paint others with the same brush.

i for one do not look at username when giving feedback.. and 90%+ of the feedback i have been giving has been positive.

it is a sad fact that some ppl just post crap, and worse for all those with half an idea, they seem to choose names relating to the abovementioned usernames.. it is easy to see how the correlation can be made, but i guess it is up to the individual person to post quality, helpful comments to get positive rep, and not post shit and attract neg rep.

remember, nothing is stopping anyone from posting good quality helpful tech comments and answers it is then up to the other users to effectively rate your comments as to their helpfulness

well... thats how it should work.... the point is to reduce the number of crap posts, and increase the focus on helpful tech posts.. as opposed to just being another shitty chatroom

My reputation feedback is based purely on content/quality.

I am not "namist" and have not carried any prejudice across from the previous forums, I couldn't care less what your log on name is or what your driving preferences are. Make a valuable contribution and ye shall be rewarded

I think if people feel they are truly being unjustly targeted with the rep points system take it up with the mods and let them know about the specific instances and users.

Yup. I really don't think username is taken into consideration when providing rep!

It's just that people that choose those usernames seem to have attitudes that attract negative rep.

    2 positive feedback

then 3 negative feedback by the mods/admin for giving feedback on the rep to sell thread in the feedback section

This just proves they won't listen to any negative feedback, and will punish anyone that tries to give it.

Toymods has gone from a friendly place, to one of feeling like you are stepping on egg shells every time you post as you know all to well anyone can give you bad rep just because they feel like it.. even if it is not warrented.

edit: p.s. yes I am extremely frustrated and believe I have been hard done by. Everyone should be entitled to their opinion without being impacted by it. I did not use harsh language, attack anyone personnally etc. If someones feels they were then I appologise.

everyone will listen to constructive criticism, but criticism wih no thought to being constructive is not very helpful... sure you can bag out the new system, but that doesn't help anyone.

as for posting, Evan, you have a post count of 7 after posting 63 times... what does that tell you about your balance of tech vs other posts? 11%?

my count is something like 168 out of 274, with many of the non-counted posts in feedback section also.. but still, thats 61% in tech, and that percentage will only increase with time.... ( as for my feedback rating, most of that is not from admin/mods and as was said before, only maybe 3 ppl havegreater than 1 rep power.. many of the feedback i get aren't counted due to ppls rep power being zero)

i guess my point is, people are more likely to give positive feedback for either a good suggestion for changes to the forum (as opposed to blatant criticism), or more likely, for good helpful tech posts. i give +ve feedback to any post in tech that i thnk makes a valuable conribution to my or other peoples knowledge. if you make such posts, expect me to give you +ve feedback.

comments in general or non-car discussion are much less likely to get positive feedback but i think are more likely to get negative feedback, if someone disagrees with your opinion? so perhaps that is a discouragement to post crap in those sections that ppl may disagree with..

i don't think i am exemplary in my behaviour at all times, but i try to add something helpful wherever i can and it is warranted... and i am an old bastard and have fingers in many car pies, so i tend to know a little more than your average forum punter perhaps..

i do agree that in this "run-in" period, there will be some feedback, good and bad, that is unwaranted, but as things settle down, i expect that the giving of feedback will become more balanced.

EDIT: and whats funny to me is that i have no interest in selling items on the forum, yet i was one of the first people to have enough feedback to do so (member or not).....

Mate, how am i going to give any suggestions to people in the tech section when i have no idea about, say.. a soarer not starting or something like that? If there is a q about an AE86 that i can answer sure..
So if u can't post in other sections like the out house or something else then why have them?

well. what you could do is to start proactively helpful threads about something you know a lot about.. like say, a certain difficult aspect of an AE86 conversion etc... it seems odd that with so many AE86 owners here, that there are not many tech threads about them... when there are threads about them and you can help, do so, and the people you help _should_ give you feedback as a result.. i can't help it if the spoontah owners are slackers (really jk )

as for outhouse..... there is no outhouse...

it is non-car discussion and should be just that, as opposed to an outhouse as such (ie outside toilet ) the idea is to reduce the amount of shit on the forums.. and by renaming outhouse to non-car discussion, perhaps this can be encouraged??

and apart from that... if you havenothing to add... then.. well.. you have nothing to add. should people give you feedback just for being here? no, you should get it based on your helpful and informative posts

    so, start helping away

and i should also add, and im not saying this relates directly to anyone in this thread, but toymods forums is a TECH forum. if you have no interest in tech, know nothing about it and dont see yourself contributing greatly towards it, then, quite simply, this isnt a forum you should be on...

im sure you guys have heaps of tech stuff you can just generate off the top of your head and start a thread about. not all threads have to be started with a question y'know...

I'm sorry if this is just a tech forums then there should not be other categories if that is the case.

Anyway I'm tired of wasting my time trying to get people to listen who obviously are never going to so im not even going to bother anymore.

i think you will find that the negative rep was more then likely given because questions have been asked many times before about the buying and selling of goods and why certain measures are in palce. then you went and asked about why you cant do certain things, even though it had been covered before.

i dont have a problem with how the current forums are set up, im not a member(yet) and dont look at toymods as a place to sell things, on the old forum i posted up a few things for friends, but if i hadnt have been able to do it wouldnt have been a problem, seeing as there is more emphasis on the tech side of things now i can only see the quality of information improving. and keeps all the people from posting incorrect information as they will soon find themselves in negative rep land.

edit: changed from creating thread to asking why.

also you were saying that it will remove your supply of parts,

and maybe it was because of your useless posts such as:
