Yes, i agree with u Karl. Its a great idea & now that i fully understand it, i will be using it. Allthough i have never posted in the Tech section, i will use it elsewhere.
This new forum is not the old forum, we want people who contribute valuable content.
This rep system gives users the ability to encourage that, and to be honest i think people are going to use it - because without it they dont get anywhere.
Reputation is the closest thing we could find to a wookie filter - and i like it.
...... butt scratcher?!

i have a rep question....
is there a maximum number of rep points someone can gain or lose based on a single post?
ie if someone makes a really really stupid post, can they be terminally banished to wookie land based on a single post? like -300 rep?
just curious...

it syas somehwere that if you write 'some' type of ba dpost you will lose at least 10 points, and if it hapens again your rep points could be set to 0, depending on what the moderator wants....
So in a nut shell if you do the right thing and give someone a good rep if they deserve it, you will get it back when or if you deserve it? It is a good wookie filter I believe though.
actually i meant that... if 300 people decide your post was worthy of neg rep, do you go down 300 points, or is there a limit on the number of people that can vote for a certain post (and vice-versa for good posts)Originally Posted by ace
i know that moderators have a rep vote of 10 per vote, but what if sayyy, 5 moderators thought it was a terrible post = neg 50 rep?

i would like to know this as well...
also further to that (i have posted this Q in another thread) but what is the correct process to follow if you want to dispute a rep given (obviously you would only dispute -ve)?
do we email the board and then the issue is moderated between both parties OR do we email the board with a justification as to why we believe the -ve rep is incorrect and you guys make the final decision... OR is it a bad luck YOU GOT SERVED situation...
cheers
Hi,
Fadee brings up an interesting point. How do you combat the "cretin factor" when someone slams you with a -ve vote for what is ostensibly a +ve contribution you make to the forums?

just a quick question, would it be apropriate to give somone rep in a sale thread that went through smoothly?
Stu, I have no idea! I don't think there's a limit so it's quite possible.
No idea if rep can go negative?
Admins do have rep power of 10. I wasn't aware of this and went a bit nuts on giving and taking rep, so it was fixed a bit later on. I kinda felt sorry for people that I gave negative rep to 'coz no one else other than admins have any more than 1 rep power at the moment.
