oh dear god no-one here has a sense of humour, maybe that should be one of the things the admin should ask about when ppl apply for membership to the forum.

in the "things that dont interchange" thread, i wrote

contrary to popular beleif, the 1UZFE IS NOT a direct swap for the 4AC in a sprinter

and oh dear gos some anal retentive gave me a bad rep, stating; u r not funny, stay on topic,

SeptemberSquall it was me that posted the useless crap comment.

the reputation system is a good idea as long as it is not abused, the function which doesnt allow the same person to receive two rep from the same person in a row is a good idea

This function is already in place. If you try and give two rep points to the same person, or even within a certain number of rep points given out then it will say "Sorry but you must spread some more reputation around before giving it to XXX again"

The amusing thing with this is that I tend to give +rep for good informative posts, and they tend to come from the same people a lot of the time.

Mr DOHC: there are quite a few people out there who are *very* protective of the tech section. Tech section is trying to be concise, with an absolute minimum of OT/jokes etc etc, so it is a resource. general car talk and other discussions is the place for all that (I know what it's like.. every time I think up a smart arse remark I check if it's a tech thread before posting)

Your "No why should I" attitude that I have witnesses in this thread will get you nowhere on these forums... if you want the +ve rep then stop winging and do something about it.
If you still don't want to do that... then pack your bags and Toymods is not the place for you.

So help ppl out, and stop whinging... or as Toyman so simply put it... Fark Off Ya Wanka.

I really think that the new forums policies (including rep) are working quite well as a whole in improving forum content.

It might be outside the scope of what the administrators are able to do, but I think it would be nice to keep track of the rep you have given, and to be able to change it. This came to mind because I think I might have just accidentally given someone negative rep for a really helpful post, and I can't see any way to undo it.

I can see that there is the potential problem of unfairly retroactively changing rep. Perhaps this could be limited by applying a time limit or similar on changes.

I hope you guys are good at php

Yeah, i accidentally did that a while ago. I actually wrote the name down and then as i was giving rep out for other things ended up giving the guy back 2 rep, one for makign up the one i accidentally took away and the other for what i was trying to give him in the first place

Must have looked confusing (Neg: Great post, good information. Pos: Whoops, stuffed up that last one. Pos: And again so you get the rep). Or something like that.

hmms heres on on rep too - if someone with the blue dot next to their name gives you +rep - it doesnt count as they dont have the capacity to give

BUT when they do reach the point that they can - is the one that they added , put onto your total ?

Nope its not, because ive got a couple of either positive or negative rep votes from people who wernt able to give rep, but who now are and my rep didnt change. So the votes arnt retroactive. So for example if you get neg rep from PersonX who later on becomes a mod then that doesnt become 10 neg.

i find this too, is it possible to change the positive rep system so that we can give positive rep to the same person ever 5pts instead of what is in place at the moment?
