yeah, i spose if you use good clamps and efi hose it'd be right. still it'd use more power to run two surely.

I was always under the impression that you had to have a high volume low pressure pump for a lift pump. Apparently these are only $100 or so which is cheaper than an EFI pump anyway but I suppose if you already have an EFI pump in there and it will work with that then may as well leave it there.

    ahh k sweet,

well i checked the tank out last night, its actually got 4 inlets/outlets, so i'll have to plumb it up like the witzl diagram,

so i should just get another efi pump from the surge tank, so a vl turbo pump or smething similar....

    blake

How is it going to end up under pressure unless the return line is severely blocked up?? No fuel pump can deliver any pressure unless there is something to pressurise against... It's like a turbo making boost when it's not connected to the engine

i just figured exessive flow from the efi would cycle the fuel through the surge tank too fast and may cause issues.

but if 1jz747 is doing 10second quaters with this then how can you argue with that!

im using a holley red as a lift pump, it works great if a little noisey. then the surge tank then into a bosch 040 (soon to be replaced with a 044).

three return lines and one or two outlet lines. top three are low pressure lift pump{carter, holley etc}, return to tank and return from fuel rail{not a fav of mine unless you have a fuel cooler} and then you have one or two bottom feeds depending on the engine needs.

carter lift pumps are a little cheaper than the holleys and do the job fine. whick ever way you go just make sure it is done properly and that it isnt in the cockpit space.

    joe cool is spot on
    heres one i prepared earlier

chris is also spot on, usually you will have a high volume low pressure (also nice and cheap) pump to feed the tank going onto a high pressure pump.
It is a case by case basis of weather a high pressure pump can act as a lift pump and it depends on who you talk to, certain pumps will be able to do it but others like the 910 pictured there wouldnt be able to do it.

If anyones looking at getting one, i got my setup for $450 from pac performance minus hoses and fittings, supports 400hp
