No need to change the master cylinder.
Hi,
I have my calipers and have ordered the discs and pads but my question is, do you need to upgrade the master cylinder to a larger size?, if so what master do you put in?. Also what is the size of the standard master cylinder?
Cheers
No need to change the master cylinder.
Series 1 master is 1", series 2 is 1 1/16"
Now - 1988 GX81 Mark II- 7MGTE, GT35R, TiAL 44m, Microtech, 550cc injectors, R154, Xtreme clutch, LSD.... Low boost tune done = 330rwhp@1 BAR...
Then - 1989 MX83 - The big scrap heap in the sky...
So how do I know what series I have????
Visually - series 1 have small lights on the top of the front guards, clear parkers on the side of the headlight with small orange indicator. There is also a build date change in 1990, can't recall which month. Hope that helps. Otherwise, hit up http://forums.toyotacressida.net/forums/ and there is a series 1 vs series 2 comparison thread in there too.

My first mx83 was a series 1 Grande. It was made in NOV 1990 the first month of the Grande and the last month of series 1.
Ahh, well, that's not one I've come across before. Apologies for getting it wrong. So, that series 1 grande must've been an interesting one? Was it all series 1 mech/body with grande options?

mine is 07/91 Grande so that would make it a s2 and thus it would have the 1 1/16" master cylinder.
