also hear of people using 1j fuel pumps?
hey all, im wanting to up the boost on my ga70 supra, i read on here a stock 1g can run 14psi fine i was thinking maybe run 12 to be on the safe side whats others run and what kinda issues with the 1g if i run 12psi as a daily?
any other small upgrades worth doing that will make a power increase?
such as...
aftermarket fuel reg
aftermarket coil pack?
also hear of people using 1j fuel pumps?
gen2 1ggte can run 14 psi no problems, should get a larger IC however. no point in fuel reg or coil pack tbh you wont get any more power.

14psi is not a 'safety' limit... plenty run more on standard engines. It just corresponds to the level of airflow at which the ecu starts noticing you've been fucking with things and cuts spark.
So I say run as high as you can without hitting spark cut.

ok i will see how it goes thanks
I was running 18-20 psi all the time with no problems

Hi mate,
14psi is often mentioned as alot seem to boost cut around 15psi. with the factory setup (computer, airflow meter, injectors) and a big single turbo (old school hks manifold and a to4e turbo) i used to run 15-16psi with out hitting boost cut.
Something to consider is the shaft speed on these tiny turbos to produce much more boost than 14psi... their life span will be significantly reduced - no probs if you want to upgrade anyway.
Mods to do - forget the coil packs or regulators....
Exhaust and intercooler are the 2 big ones - then i would go single turbo. the factory computer ran it fine. pretty much everything else is a waste of time.
in a heavy car like the ga70, if you want much more than those mods provide - a stock 1jz conversion would be the next cheap and easy option. but your exhaust and cooler would still suit that - so do them, see if your happy, then decide how much more you want, and how much you want to spend!!!!!
Cheers

hey buddy, thanks for the info
yeah i heard these engines are shit in the supra's cause of the weight
question how do you fit a bigger intercooler with the front bar that runs behind the bumper? lol
i didnt wanna modify this car much cause its bloody tidy for a ga70 and its completely stock except the exhaust.
i will prob sell this one soon and find one with a 1j that i can do up![]()
Dude, I've been running a 1g in an a ra60 celiac for 5 yrs on 15 pounds boost with absolutely no probs. my gen3 mods are a 3in exhaust, pod and boost controller. I have occasionally run it up to 20 pound for a 1/4 mile run, again no probs but to be safe stick with the 14 pound boost. Higher boost means a lot of heat that a factory inter cooler can't deal with effectively anyway.
Hope this helps
i plan on running 14psi in my hilux but have upgraded everything i plan on bumping it up to 28psi for a dyno run to see what it pulls

Should be interesting! Lol let me know what it makes
Cheers Geoff
28psi? as if you wouldn't pop a head gasket or something, post on this what you make.
i wanna up my psi but im selling my supra now so would hate for something to brake lol
any one after a 1988 supra?
28 psi, all thats good for is super heating the intake charge and the turbos will be so far out of their efficency range, thats if they dont explode first.
