    Default 5SFE Valve Shim Diameter

    Hello,

    Does anyone know the valve shim diameter used in 5SFE in ST204 Celica's?

    I've searched long and hard but haven't found a clear answer. I believe it's either 25mm or 28mm... but don't know which one.

    I got my GA317 from Snap On today to do the valve stem seals and am wondering if I need to turn it down a little on a lathe to fit inside the bucket bore without scoring it. If it's 28mm bore diameter I should be OK, but 25mm would see me needing to shave 1 - 2mm off the diameter to be on the safe side.

    Thanks to anyone that can help!

    Default Re: 5SFE Valve Shim Diameter

    Pulled car apart today;

    Shims: 28mm diameter
    Buckets: 31mm diameter

    The GA317 tool earned it's keep with no modding needed, I got all the valve stem seals replaced... the the intake ones are really a shit of a thing to do in-situ. Now to put the rest of the car back together tomorrow and hope it doesn't blow plumes of smoke.
