Never heard of such a kit. I would stick with the belt and just get a good quality belt.
They are not that unreliable.
'Is it possible?' Is basically what I'm asking... I would love to have a BEAMS in my Celica but I'm not keen on the idea of timing belts when the engine isn't a none interference engine. Is there some kit out there or some way of modifying the engine to have chain driven cams?
It's a long shot asking, but if not then I'm going for a Honda F20C instead, trying to keep it all Toyota though =P

Belt will last 150000km, just get a gen Toyota and do the idlers and tensor
That's a lot of sunday drives haha
Just use the standard belt, there's nothing wrong with them.

Won't the chain need lubrication whereas the belt doesn't. You're looking at a lot of work for not a lot of gain except piece of mind but then you'll have the modifications, to be able to run the chain, to worry about
What a sick idea..
You can probably run with the stock belt some 500 000km before it really fail;if changed reasonably intervals it's bulletproof!
Well would it be worth going F20C for piece of mind or should I jsut go 3SGE BEAMS to keep it Toyota =P I spose I could get used to the idea of a belt...

Beams. you're being paranoid haha. Timing chains can fail too. If it is maintained properly there is nothing to be concerned about.
18RG RA28
it should be ok with a belt they make performance 3 layer kevlar belts for the 3sge beems for the after market turbo people.
i know what you mean about the paranoia.
ive been like that too for the last year ive even bought a spare belt and plan to change it soon as my engine has hit 100000 km
Well I've changed my perspective on things now... My chain went on my 18R after only 11,000km's, I'm pretty pissed off as it decided to rip through the timing cover and destroy two sprockets in it's path -___- If it was a belt nothing would get broken. I now like the Idea of belts, but still paranoid about the BEAMS being an interference engine.

you should get a electric motor that is direct drive....
Then you might be paranoid of the batteries blowing up...
answer me this out of all the timing belt cars on the roads how many failures have you heard of personally? (ie not a friends of a friends second cousin.....)
for me its a whole 0. so ill stick with my OEM belt and when i decide to push more hp and rpm (think 300awhp and 8000rpm) ill look into an aftermarket kevlar belt.
personally id be more worried about valve springs and conrods then timeing belts....

I have seen the timing belt modified in the 3S family engines to route the belt in a simple way eliminating the complicated timing belt routing ,
