2000 rpm isnt exceptionally high for cold start...
providing it comes back down when the car warms up it appears the iacv is working as intended...
white smoke is most likely valve stem seals
ok 2JZ-GE guru's -- HELP
My car idles high on start up (maybe 2000 rpm) and emits white smoke - that smells heavily of gas to my nose
Once it warms up it settles down (both the smoke + the revs)
Now I have spent literally hours on the net tracking down the issue.
Can't see any signs of a BHG. Although I know these engines are known to have valve stem issues.
I have also read posts on leaking capacitators in the ECU - have pulled the ECU out and they have already been replaced - had ECU tested.
Now the screeds of Info on the net points to :
1) Leaking IVAC
2) Leaking coolant somewhere in the heater/cooling system
3) TPS
4) Open loop from the ECU allowing the Injectors to over fuel + dilute oil
5) Have read that leaking air control valve from p/s could also cause this - (but I think this issue was related to the 1UZ-FE V8's + not the 2JZ-GE's)
Apart from the above issues car runs great. But I am in a position where I live in the city (no tools etc -busy) and I don't want to be shelling out unecessary doh for a mechanic to source the issue:
I'm convinced it's something small and not a BHG - (but then again it could be, but still leaves the High reving issue)
at the moment going through a somewhat messy separation so need to keep the exspenses + frustration to a minimum.
Frustrating thing is on most forums there are tons of threads on similar issues; and tons of replies with what it could be but the poster never finishes the thread with the fix or what actually worked. I'm located in Sydney - surely there is a 2JZ-GE owner who has come across similar things and fixed it? or anyone in Sydney to recommend to be the go to guru to establish what the issue is? at this point of the game looking to get rid of the Crown and get a corolla.
Cheers.

hi thanks for that, the car is reving very high however, I.e put it into drive and you have to stomp damn hard on the brakes to stop it from leaping forward. When it is warm it idles nice at much lower rpms. Trust me something is not right with the Idle. Thanks mate.
Make sure the throttle plate is 100% closed. If someone has adjusted the stop point it can be open a little bit which can cause the issues you list (except the smoke, thats most likely unrelated, and most likely valve stem seals).
Once the throttle plate is 100% closed (and clean), then adjust the TPS to its 0 point and clean the ISCV.
All will be well after that.
Look up the MA70 TSRM on how to adjust the TPS if you are unsure.

Is it actually using any water/coolant? If not its probably running way too rich when cold.
pull pipe off throttle body and block throttlebody intake
if it still idles hi u have an air leak somewhere in the manifold
forget the other problems for now
only way it will idle very high is a leak
so block off idle motor and start blocking other stuff off to find where leak is
then once u get idle down to 800 or 900 worry bout the other problems
adjust tps using a test light and multimeter
tps voltage should be at 0.6 volts closed
and idle switch wire should be grounded when closed
adjsut it now
then recheck once u sort everything out
