Default Hotness in Mk3 / A70 brake setups?

    Hey guys

I'm doing a Mk3 project and looking at braking options. Last time I played with Mk3's was ten years ago and there were no well-known conversions... any more news on this topic?

Anyone nutted out details for anything simple like some type of Falcon rotors and a Nissan 4-pot or something? Hoping to end up with something I can easily/cheaply get parts/pads/rotors for.

    Cheers

i believe alot of guys in the states were using cobra calipers possibly with falcon rotors...

still the cost of it starts getting a bit out of hand as far as i am aware...

i would assume you have heard of the nightpager brackets for mounting r32 2 pots etc?

a mate of mine went to the full willwood front and rear he bought when the dollar was shit but cannot fault them as yet...

personally ive gone dba slotted front and rear and they work ok but i dont have the funds to fork out anymore for brakes until the car goes fast enough to require an upgrade

PBR C6 Caliper (off FPV BA GT Falcoon)
    FPV BA Falcoon GT-P 355mm x 32mm rotors
    Billet Hubcentric Locating rings
    Custom caliper adapter bracket
Aftermarket MA70 braided lines still work

how much would a pair of said brackets be worth?

also has anyone done anything regarding the rear?

Brackets are $100pp for the pair, $120 if I can find the dome-heade hex bolts to go with them (4 off)

People rarely upgrade rear brakes as they don't do much.
At the most I'd just get slotted discs and top quality pads.

i just thought the proportion would of gotten quite thrown off by having the larger ones up front with small stock rear...

guess its a non issue though?

already got slotted all round just thinking for a down the track kind of thing might be handy getting the brackets

    Hey guys

I've sorted out the motor, box, etc now so it's time to do the brakes finally.

    I've loosely decided on the nightpager-style setup - which I understand to be A70 hubs machined down 2.5mm, 3mm hub-face spacer, JZA80 323mm rotors, 'nightpager' style adapter, r33 4-pots, r33 pads, a70 lines.

    Wondering about a few things:

    1. Is the 3mm spacer to centre the rotor in the caliper? why isn't the caliper bracket just made correctly?
    2. Does anyone know if Mk4 17's will fit over this setup? If there is someone in syd/bris that has the setup, I'd like to try a mk4 rim over them.
    3. are r33 4-pots the best to use? and what to look for to make sure i get the right one?
    4. best source for brackets, or at worst does anyone have plans & what is the best material?

If you don't want to run a caliper spacer and the rotor hat is thick enough you could always machine the 3mm off the inside of the rotor.

I did this to fit z32 calipers to my mx83, it works fine and all lines up perfectly (bearing in mind the new rotors were much thicker than stock ones to start with)

    Hi mate

The spacer, is actually between the rotor & the hub.
The caliper bracket, is an adapter.

    Now have R33 4-pots and 350z discs.
Need bracket, hubcentric ring, pads & new lines... and spacer if the bracket can't be made to suit (seems wierd)

Ok, still looking; those brackets weren't quite what I wanted.

No rush as the calipers & wheel bearings are a while off yet. If anyone has a set, or a DXF, would be appreciated.
