IS300 Auto? I'd service everything ie engine, gearbox & diff oil etc make sure everything is sweet other then that not much to do on an otherwise stock car. Inspect brake pads make sure they have plenty of meat left on them if not already replaced and maybe throw some fresh fluid at it too.
    If in doubt power out

Point out that a stripped out Excel is faster around the corners despite being half the engine capacity, and that the Orange paint is good for 20HP

iirc that was mostly me, garth and rona? lol

as per said couple trackdays ago.. main things are

    1) new oil/filter etc before trackday
    2) flush brakes and put in some decent fluid. superDOT 4 at a minimum. RBF600 etc if feeling rich
    3) bring the following with you at the BARE minimum
    - Jack and jackstands
    - Engine Oil
    - Brake fluid
    - Spanners and socket set
    4) Get a wheel alignment done. Basic mild settings for an FR car will do.

    On the track itself
    1) do the first few sessions with the entire lap in no lower gear than third (may not apply as I assume this IS300 is auto?) basically, dont bother trying to do fancy shit out of the box. Ease into it and focus on getting your braking and turn in points right and build the pace from there.

Yeah - car prep: get some track capable pads and fluids as these will be used copiously and beginner track drivers do not need to be wondering if their brakes are going to be there this time, they have other things to think about.

Engine and box oil are a good idea, but if they're a half-decent quality and not overdue the money is better spent AFTER the trackday has destroyed them. Usual maintenance checks, tyres etc - alignment, unless it's terrible he won't notice the difference. Again, maybe just check it afterwards so it's right for the next 10k kms of daily driving.

Numbers are looking decent for the bunkhouse, will call the pelican shortly and get the low down. I will likely be staying in town on friday night as the missus is coming down with the little guy, and i think it's a little early to introduce him to a friday at the pelican. Will try and get there for shenanigans if i can figure the logistics. Hopefully will be there on the thursday now as couldn't get 2 nights away but i'm of the opinion if they come down on friday i'm not really away...

Am updating the list with several payments that have come through - Phil (tir33d), who's your 2nd? Need name and car for the list.

^^^ Agreed Garth, fresh fluids that have not had a hard life are best exchanged after the abuse of the track day. Or both before and after if you have excess funds

My car doesn't make enough power nor does it torture the oil enough to warrant fresh stuff for one day

Other is Mitch groves ( you will remember him as the fella who had his head poking out the roof on the datsun. Driving a full race spec xd ute. Ok... Maybe the 1500 value may explain it. He will be the man with the biggest smile for one of the smallest budgets. The bloke honestly has over a dozen cars including a couple of bda escorts, a army duck, willys jeep, even a genuine phase 2 gt one owner. He just loves flogging his xd ute - it's not quick, but by his smile you would swear he is doing sub 1 min laps.
I hear roundy hopes to go fast this time so my $100 bet is again safe. He will be using some German technology rather than doing the hard yards on his sillycar..
