Ha ha, it's a shame I don't get the power that comes with a super charger! I might have a play with the mixtures with it all disconnected again and see if i can get anything out of it. Pain in the arse though as i'm going in blind!

tune the mixture and see where that leads otherwise you could grab the carb/exhaust gear from an earlier 18r without the air pump and strap it on (would make no difference to anything lol). Best mod I ever did was get it tuned properly.
I don't think flemlux has the time to re-tune the car sans air/smog pump. It'll probably die before the end of the Shitbox Rally and he's got more important things to sort out (like: enough beer for the trip, lining up Belgian trannie hookers for Tut, painting the car, organising last-minute sponsors).
You've got that right! Got it running ok with the air pump so will probably just leave it, we might end up ditching it for "weight reduction" as we go along. I'm driving the car back to Melbourne after the rally so I will have another play with the motor and the anti pollution junk when i get back (if I get back!).
Any tips for spare parts I should take, minus a whole spare 18R-C!?
hoses, hose clamps, wire (to fix borked exhausts), brake fluid, oil, windscreen cleaner and bucket and a squeegee, spare points & condenser, spark plugs, multiple torches (Tut will sit on one or loose it on some random drunken escapade), metric spanner set, 2 tyre braces (so you can loose one), rolls of duct tape (for emergency repairs or tying Tut to the roof), zip ties (see previous), ...
edit: get radiator flushed before you leave.
Roger that! There is a few things on there I didn't thing of, thanks! The wire will come in handy cause I can't see the current exhaust hangers lasting too long.
Radiator covered, got a new (SSS special) one, didn't trust the old one, the blu tack was starting to come out.
I have played with these on a 2sc and an 18rc donk. Its been a couple of years, but I am about to do this again to my missus recently aquired ra40.
Btw I cant see the diagrams from rivers thread but I can see the pics in this thread so forgive me if my terminlogy is a little off. I did find this one of Toyo DIY for my car though which should be the same (rt132 corona) ToyoDIY.com & ToyoDIY.com
The EGR you can blank off/remove. Thats the flexible metal pipe going from the bottom of the exhaust mani in the first pic up to the bracket bolted to the inlet manifold, and into the mani. This stops the reburning of exhausts gasses a second time and allows more fuel and air to enter equaling more power. I think this connects to cylinder 2 or 3?... Coundnt find a clear pic...
I think as stated by Terra the car has been richend up to run the way it is, and then when you take the the gear off, it is running too rich.
After thinking about it, cylinder 4 must be running lean, and the cylinder with the egr connected must be running like crap as well. Its amazing they worked so well from the factory.
Hope this helps![]()
Awesome, thanks for that. I'll have a go at removing the EGR today and blocking it off and disconnect the air pump and try to lean out the mixtures
How did you go over the weekend champ?
P.S. When does the shitbox rally leave? Would love to enter next year! haha
