Default RA23 & TA22 rears half the same?

    Hey All,

Sorry if this has been asked before/is common knowledge, but I'm wondering if body-wise (panel shape, boot lid, lights, bumpers, mounts for diff & suspension, fuel tank etc) the back half of the TA22 is the same as the RA23/TA23? Long story short I'm looking for a back half of Celica to repair my RA23 as it was hit by a dickhead in a commonwhore from behind. I'm hoping that the TA22 is the same cos it'll make it a lot easier to find a rolling shell.

    Cheers,
    Ben

Everything I've read says yes, but I'm not sure about 22s with the flat tail lights.
You can always try Dave at sleeka spares, he's helped a couple of times with knowledge of the interchangeability of mechanicals. Might able to help on panel stuff.

Early TA22 Celica has fuel tank in floor, so skip that one. The later TA22's have essentially the same body section as the RA23, however, there are some differences, for one, the fuel tank mountings are different, as the RA has a larger tank. Spring, shock and the other suspension mounts are the same, with the possible exception of the panhard rod mount.

The most noticeable external difference can be the rear geard arch shape. I have seen an early (1972) Celica that had the rear qtrs from a later model stitched on. Looked funny because the wheel arches are rounde edge on the early amd square edged on the later.

Boot lids are the same on all this series coupes, bumpers are different only in the mount bracket and attaching holes on the car.

    cheers Chuck

Early 22's (Flat lights and Floor fuel tank) are very very different,
But later models, 73/74/75 are almost identical minus the fuel tank and mounts for the tank
Bumpers and tail lights are all interchangeable

    Hey,
Thanks for all the replies fellas! I had a feeling that the panel shape around the wheel arches was different but couldn't remember for sure. That shell from Pac is looking good at this point, Cheers Ian! Thanks again for your help everyone =D
    Cheers,
    Ben
