I know with 20v they can feel a tad sluggish off the mark if there is no oxygen sensor hooked up
Make sure it's in your exhaust and not the inlet I've recently read heheeh
Hey guys I'm just after some advise. My 4agze corolla is sluggish on take off right up until 2000 rpm. It has no kick at all. I have changed the spark plugs and still doin the same thing. Any suggestions

Ok ill check it out and keep it posted. Cheers. Just wasn't sure if its normal because iv only owned the car for a week or so.
Hi,
I'm not very familiar about 4agze, but supercharger should boost up almost immediately after full throttle.
There are some troubleshooting to do about the lag. Fuel, ignition cable, throttle position sensor, map sensor and a few other thing. Plus the O2 sensor state above.
There should be no lag with the S/C... you have some sort of a problem.... I don't now how the 4AGZE functions... but I'd begin with ignition, and cam timing
Information is POWER... learn the facts!!
It could be a million things. You could start by telling us a little more about the car and engine. What model 4AGZE? Which model Corolla? Factory fitted or conversion? What ECU is running it? What modifications?
Otherwise we're shooting in the dark. Like me saying that I had a similar problem until 1500rpm because my aftermarket ECU didn't switch the supercharger on until over 1500rpm.
I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.
2000rpm is very low, are you able to tell at what RPM the SC is kicking in? off the top of my head it isn't much lower than that anyway as Hen mentioned.
put it into diag mode and see if anything pops up, check any sensors that could be suss as well as spark/fueling, although you wouldn't think the latter would be a problem at low rpm, unless you were running aftermarket management and it's map is sub-optimal.

It has the stock ecu. And motor has been converted. It's in a 89 ae92 corolla. It is sounding more like the air fuel mixture. I might just get it tuned.
no use getting it tuned if the O2 sensor is worn out/non-functioning, that's where any AFR issues would arise from.
Question for others more versed with GZE's is would that show up in diag mode?

Anything under 2000rpm and mine chuggs hard. Not that I spend much time under 2k anyways.
the stall on my auto even allowed me to take off at 2,000rpm too so yeah it's not really normal driving rpm.
Also remember this is only at best a 145 (bigport) or 160hp (smallport) engine, they aren't exactly fast, it's more the torque of the SC between 2,500-4,500rpm that makes them fun.

This is probly a noob question but how do you put it in diag mode??
Check your cat converter too. I have just fixed the same problem with my ST162 Celica by replacing the cat. The old one started rattling and i found out that the guts of it was melted and blocked off so you couldnt see through it. It has been like it since i bought the car and i thought it was normal to be sluggish down low in revs. It will now chirp the tyres if you nail it at a set of lights. With the old cat it wouldnt start to get into it until about 3500Rpm. t still wound out to 7000Rpm with the blocked cat.
Thanks dazza that sounds very firmiliar. So the exhaust is what I'm hearing a lot so ill deff be checking that first
Find the diagnostic connector and put a paperclip between terminals E1 and Te1, then turn the engine to the on position.
Count the flashes of the engine light on the dash and let us know what it comes up with.
Assuming it was all connected during the conversion.
Also, where in QLD are you?
