Having not actually personally done this specific task before, Im going to have to shut up here, but I will say that pull clutch subarus only require the removal of the fork pivot (and not the cover) and even most of the nasty euro pull clutches don't require you to take the cover off, so it did surprise me greatly that toyota would produce a system which was such a PITA and require the cover to come off.
Soarer21 has done them and is adamant that its just the fork, and that would seem more likely to me, however my previous comments were based on the black and white from a genuine toyota gearbox workshop manual, so do whatever works, but FFS don't just try forcing it off!!

Hi Edwagon, just looked at the image you posted and thought "why the hell would they recommend doing it that way". The box weighs a ton on its own, and adding a big damn cast clutch cover to the weight you're trying to lift out. As I mentioned earlier, we'll be doing the clutch on the JZX90 that belongs to my guy who works here so we can either take a step by step photo series on removal or a video to show the easiest way.

Also, the starter of this thread is a mate of my guys and after elling him last night to push box back onto the engine, then remove fork he did so and the box is now successfully seperated and clutch is still on the back of the engine.

OK, Soarer 21, thank u very much

Your information was correct, with the of help ben (the owner of the JZX90) i had it off with in 5 min. Also now have the presure plate and clutch off. Which was held on by 6 bolts. Undid them and edged it off.

Thanks you very much i was starting to get very frustrated.
