Back in 2008 Stitt did the "lost Race Tracks Cruise" to Catalina Park in Katoomba and it was an awesome day out.
Since that was 4 years ago its about time we took a trip back up there
When - Saturday 21st July
Meeting Time: 9.30am
Where: Old Government House, Parramatta Park, Parramatta
Destination: Katoomba, Catalina Park and a Pub for lunch
What to Bring: Full tank of fuel, CB, Cash for lunch, walking shoes, a hat and a sense of nostalgia
We will meet up at Parramatta park just near the Old Government House at 9.30am for a 10:30am leave.
Parramatta Park Raceway Info - Opened in 1952, Parramatta Park had a 2 mile Grand Prix circuit and a 1 mile club circuit. The track closed at the end of 1955
We will do a lap of the park and get some photos before we head out and up the mountains via the Great Western Hwy.
Depending on what time we arrive we'll stop for some lunch at a nice kid/family friendly pub in Katoomba and then head down to the race course.
We will park near the Aquatic Center in Red Hill Street and should be able to walk around the circuit which is just over 2ks, given none of us will be in a hurry after a nice big feed this will take us an hr or so.
Catalina Race Track Info - A 1.3 mile circuit in New South Wales whose construction was started in 1954, but didn't officially open until 1960, and closed in 1969
These guys did an Article on Catalina which is not a bad read http://www.vsccwa.com.au/cms/uploads...ept-Page09.pdf
And if Program covers for Race meets is your thing check this out ! - http://www.progcovers.com/motor/catalina.html

479RWHP on 50psi and 70psi hasn't broken her at the track!
Rod,
This is a top idea!
You could stop through the Amaroo site aswell if you wanted to take the real scenic route up through the back of richmond and then up springwood road / yarramundi and out onto the gt western hway at springwood.....
Having said that.......I would probably cry at Amaroo...and I knkow having been to Catalina quite a few times in the recent years....its really depressing!
But Probably one of the best tracks we had!
I have had the priviledge of driving it and dad raced there.....and wow at full pace its scary!
Cheers Matt
