and you have replaced the leads so try plugs
so random. started car today, and it was only running on 3 cyl. i drove it to work and above 3.5k it would mostly run on 4 cyl, but at idle it would only run on 3. found it to be cyl no. 2 by removing each spark plug lead one by one. having replaced that lead the problem still occursThe temperature was fine, and as i said it would mostly run on 4cyl above 3.5k rpm. could the coil be faulty, or possibly a plug. its so random because it often kicks on2 4cyl once the revs r up. btw its a CAS 4agze with the stadard ze coil packs, running a a single igniter for both coils.
help much appreciated

i dont have a funny or cool signature.
-change the spark plugs.
-check the injectors.....swap them to a different cylinder and see if the fault moves to that cylinder.
-could be a bung coil pack
a few more simple things to start with

Eldar.O.
should be 2 ded cylinders if a coil has gone
i dont have a funny or cool signature.
are you sure its running on 4 above 3.5?
coz usually they just tend to smooth themselves out above that and its less noticable.
as the eldar one said, change your plugs and see what happens.

No Signature.
ichanged the plugs and its till the same. Is it possible that a piston ring or valve has burnt out so suddenly and randomly? i will try 2 compression test it 2morrow 2 see i suppose. also could a single igniter running both coils be the problem, seeing as its a ems igniter running a stinger ecu.
have you checked the injectors. its best to rule out the simple things before going straight for BHG or internal fault.
a comp test would be a good idea, but there are other things to rule out first.
might have an igniter problem, do you have one to swap it with?

was a blown head gasket between cyl 2 and 3. also found my crank pulley to have 2 chunks out of it. Looks liek the builder tried to lever it of with a big screw driver or somethin wearing hte timing belt out faster. pretty good for a 15k old motor...not
Go and kick his arse for cost of a new crank pulley.
Or bolt it back up, tear the belt through yourself, take it back to him and say it broke and the engine went bang.
Then he can rebuild it again (allbeit only for the purpose of a new HG) under warranty!!!
meh...
