1970's Mark II Corona - E or F Series Diff?

Maybe someone could clear this up for me. A while ago I bought a 1970's Mark II Corona diff as I was told it was an F-series. Searching the net recently though I came across some data that said they had E-series diffs. Can anyone confirm. Thanks.

I was under the impression it was an F series... as everthing i have seen about them indicates they had an F.

But i'm actually looking for one now... so if someone knows whether certain models only have an E series, that might save me some disappointment in the future. So here goes listening to what ppls have to say

MX10 and MX22 has E
MX13 and MX23 has F

if its 1970 its most likely early model E sorry to say

Having never compared an E series to an F series... are the differences going to be obvious? Anything to check rather than simply trusting that an MXx3 WILL have an F series.

Not that I'm aware of. If you have one of each side by side you'll notice the F series is physically larger, but there's not enough of a difference to spot it otherwise.

Oh and if the diff is still in the original car you can check the axle code of course.

i'm not sure of all the early models, but my mx22 has an E diff. All mx13 and mx23 have F diffs though.

the difference between the E diff and an F diff is you can't fit an F centre in the E!


...seriously though, the diff housing diameter on an E diff is about 220mm, whereas the F diff is bigger.

don't bother pulling the diff out if it's not already, just measure the carrier flange. if it's about 220mm it's an F, if it's less it's an E.

MX10/12/22 uses an E series,

MX13/23 use F series

i'm gettin my hands on a f diff, so i'll closely inspect both to see if there's a giveaway in case you don't carry a tape measure with you everywhere.
