Default Gen 1 3SGTE fuel rail in Gen 2

Hi again, this is a follow up question to my one earlier regarding the Walbro pump and regulator. You see in that thread it was pointed out I'd need to do something with the fuel rail.

Well today I set about removing my rail, to have it machined. Funny thing though - I remove my throttle body and see a top feed rail, from a ST165 by the looks of it. Someone, somewhere along the line, has converted my set up to use that top feed rail.

I have taken some pictures, by the look of it, the bore in the centre is continuous, and quite a lot larger than the 4mm the ST185 ones apparently are.

Basically, I'm asking whether this will flow ok with the Walbro, Turbosmart Regulator, and later on down the performance road, bigger injectors?

    Thanks again!
    Nick

sorry to tell you, but you don't have a gen2 3sgte there. you have a gen1 3sgte, well at least the head is definitely gen1.

dead giveaway that cam cover and location of PCV.

but yes the gen1 fuel rail will flow fine for the walbro pump, toyota should've kept top feed rail for all gte's but they didn't

Wow, really? I thought it was odd that when I removed the EGR system there was no hole to plug in the head. I just thought it must have been a JDM spec head as they have no EGR.

Very interesting and, to be honest, a bit of a let down.

Still, the head has received some porting and a rebuild, and the engine management is going on soon so it will be interesting to see how much power it makes. Good thing I didn't go and buy cams for it then, they wouldn't have fitted!

Afaik, toda are the only ones that make cams for the gen 1 head. The gen1 cams are slightly less dur and lift than gen 2, but fortunately the stock gen2 cams are rubbish amyway so you won't be losing any hp.

Interesting. I've recently had the head rebuilt (after a cam belt slip) it had been ported previously, and they told me it had different cams in it. Might have been TODA. Should still be able to get some descent power out of it with proper tuning then

other companies have made them in the past, they may be wade, TRD, reground or just NA gen1 cams.

still a good tune will improve things.
