Does a 1uz even have a sump gasket? Don't they just use sump goop?

I want to remove and replace the sump to repair the dents and have the manifolds off to remove
the loom. I have been a mechanic since 1974 but I have not rebuilt one of these before;I have always ensured all the gaskets are replaced and assumed there were sump gaskets as is usual. I spent four hours online including toyodiy (great site) and have found a complete non oem set for less than $200 including postage from USA from Mizumo Auto, before I buy has anyone on here dealt with these guys?
Rob
Toyota hasnt been using sump gaskets since the late 80's as far as i know. They just use the sump "goop" as we like to call it.... or more accurately, Toyota Seal Packing Black, part number 08826-00080-A as mentioned above.
You should be able to get the intake manifold gasket for much less than $200 from a decent toyota dealership!!
I would stick with genuine Toyota for your gaskets. Aftermarket ones tend not to be as good IMO.

Thanks guys, goes to show you are never too old to learn

Intake manifold gaskets are metal, they are reusable.
I've had mine off dozens of times, never bought new ones.
As above, sumps don't use gaskets, just goo. Either use genuine Toyota, or genuine Holden (Threebond). Both are awesome products.
The only gaskets that you would need to buy are the water bridge gaskets (if you have the water bridges off) as they have a tendency to tear as you take the motor apart.
The rest are reusable, or discard the stock and just use goo (eg throttle body and ICSV)
