    Default Cost-effective 2JZ/W58 clutch & flywheel for 400rwhp?

    Hi guys

No rush but I'm looking for a JZ/W58 clutch setup on a budget. Mk3 Supra max 250-300rwhp but I hate stuff failing so let's say 400rwhp and then I can't be sold something insufficient - car is pretty heavy maybe 1700kg wet.

Would be looking at full clutch & flywheel setup. Prefer steel flywheel and full-face clutch but happy with whatever will do the job on a budget, and not be ridiculous to drive with.

Any recommendations of online or local sources/models/links would be appreciated. This is just a cheap & cheerful project so please no $1k+ recommendations.

Pfft... clutches are hardly rocket science, particularly in this case given low power & street tyres only!

I'm not expecting a clutch for $99.95 but I'm also not wanting to spend up around $1k for one of the most elementary components of a car.

Any useful recommendations or comments appreciated...!

Exedy "sports tuff" organic clutches are pretty dam good, used them in most of my cars

a stock flywheel with a machine should do you fine also...

should save some coin on that...

exedy heavy duty cushion button clutches are very nice to street drive/slip etc and will hold decent power as well...

i think they are a 5-600 dollar setup though

    then add rear main seal
    spigot bearing
    flywheel

the deciding factor is how much you can get yourself a stock flywheel for as its going to be the thing that runs the costs up...

2nd hand might be a reasonable option... if kms and condition is known

I've used RPM clutches (Clutch Industries heavy duty/performance arm), and they're pretty decent, and certainly a lot more nicely priced than the excedy stuff! There's also some pretty awesome dual-friction clutches in the states that aren't pricey at all.

    Centerforce Clutches

Haven't used them personally, but they're roughly $350 from summit, and have rave reviews

Your dreaming if you think youll get a clutch and flywheel setup to hold that power for less than a grand thats not a puck clutch. Not been a wanker just been realistic, as between myself and mates alot of trial and error and research has gone into clutches. And it cant really be done. No reason at all why a second hand cast flywheel wont be fine just get it surfaced at ya local machine shop and buy a sprung center button clutch and that is about the closest you are going to get for the money you want to spend!
That is of course unless your running 185 60 14 tires and a 4.8+:1 diff ratio!

    NPC custom full face organic.

I've been running one in my car (~490rwhp ~1300kg) for a couple years now with no problems. I can't remember how much it cost, but I'm pretty sure it was less than $1k.

Personally I'd search around for a cheap second hand twin plate and get Jim Berry to re-co it...

Should be able to make it happen for less than 1k...

    Cheers
