Default Aftermarket ECT computer for 5-speed?

As I could see from my n/a 1jz vvti, the A650/651 5-speed auto is a great improvement for small torque engines (and with its price and size, it's still better than 5-speed manual). Its application list suppose that the type is adequate up to 350hp/400NM at crank. These trannies are available here starting at $300usd. However I couldn't easily find any ECU that could run it.

The idea, in general, is to take plain old 1UZ, run a moderate compressor and some kinda piggyback to support it, and a 5-speed auto for better 0-100kph time (currently it shifts into 2nd at some 70kph which is way too much). Shorter diff ratio is not an option because I need to retain reasonable RPM at cruising mode.

Do I have any options on tranny ECU?

possibly not super helpful but the Megasquirt folks did have a version of their ECU to drive GM auto boxes.

Whether any of their work could translate over to running the Aisin Axxx boxes I don't know but they've made it fairly obvious as to how it works.

would need more smarts to do PWM control of solenoids and line pressure that the A650 no doubt uses.

andrew_mx83 - bad try, in A650E some solenoids are PWM type, not just on-off action
(in fact there're 3 solenoids so some gears are effectively combination of one of them being on and some other being pulse width modulated)

thechuckster - according to description, the squirtie does have capability to control A650 type, however I need lots of experiments because no one ever tried 5-speed auto with this (this is my feeling at first glance)

I'd probably start with stock ECU - the trick is to fool engine part of it.

Depends how much money u want to spend,
There's afew good Trans ecus but all over 1000 bucks.
Y not be the first to try the mega squirt and learn something
And let us know how u go.
I think fitting it is easy but programming it is the hard bit. Maye first
Learn how the 5 speed works
I have seen some info where it tells u what happens to each solenoid in each gear and gear change

Y not just wire u std ecu to run motor and auto then piggy back engine side of things if u want to
    Modify the motor

Consider 1jz-gte boosted up a bit
Or maybe old 1uz-fe, neither ever came with 5-speed auto
On the other hand, their stock ECU's accept simple piggybacks. So for example you can play with ignition modifying crank sensor signal, but with newer vvti engines the trick is no more possible

So the idea is to liven up old engine types. Over 1 grand is definitely too much for that.

As for now, my best bet is to take stock 5-speed ecu and fool it somehow to just switch gears. I think 1jz/2jz computer will be ok (there were crowns and chasers with a650). Plan to make ETCS-I emulator, install stock MAP, use resistors for air and coolant temperature and see what happens.

With no success with this approach I will likely consider the MS or even more likely giving up with the whole idea

thats way past his budget i guess

yhe could possibly sell his 1j vvti ecu for couple hundred bucks and put that towards that pcs but still to expensive

JP - nice one, but without direct support for toyota 5-speeds. So I think the MS is effectively the same stuff - in either way I have to learn in details how A650 works and then program the computer. But at least gives idea on typical price.

dumbass - my 1jz already has A650E in factory configuration. I plan to use this trans type in many other projects.

I believe you will find that PCS support the A650E if you contact them.
