Have you checked to see if the later ones run the same spec synchros as your vintage?
Hi all,
I have a 1967 RT40 Corona with a what I have been told is a common synchromesh problem with the L40 (cast iron housing with integral bell housing & aluminium side plate) gearbox used in this model, its ok on the upshift but lousy on the downshift. I would quite happily strip the box down and overhaul it but the synchromesh rings I can not find.....been looking on and off on the web for 12 months now....
Is there any other Toyotas that use the same box of a slightly later vintage that might fit with minor modification, that hopefully I can get all the parts required for overhaul? it looks like I can get sync rings for the later L40 made after 1972 but not for the L40 made from 1967-72.
Thanks,
James.

I can find a cross reference to the 1st gear sync ring, (p/n 33367-30010 and 33368-30010) but not for 2,3,and 4 sync ring (p/n 33368-30020 and 33368-30030).
The later L40 box sync rings are available, but I don't know if they would work - I need to talk to someone with the "knowledge".
Sorry bud, apart from cross referencing and measurement, i cant help you on anything this old with jap stuff.
there is a corona dedicated thread you could hit up that may have regular visits from RT40 nuts.

Hope this helps
