The overdrive button is on the dash very close to the right hand side of steering column. Does the "green" light on the dash come on when you get to about 60kph???

The overdrive box has quite a long extension housing that is fairley busy with stuff hanging off it. It has a large solenoid on the side for changing the overdrive gear set.

    Cheers,
    Shane.

I have no button on dash where my owners manual says there should be,I picked up the car with a bhg and only just got it running drove it once when I noticed no engine braking, haven't had it up to 60 yet.however there IS a solenoid at the rear of the gearbox, haven't had a real good look under the car yet but did notice the solenoid. How can I get it to operate?(might take it for a squirt now and check for a green light or shifting into overdrive.

Drove it, no light on dash above 60kph wasn't shifting into overdrive either.is there a way to make it operate normally or a way to disable it so that I get my deceleration back as it is quite a handful with a flogged out steering box!

To disable the overdrive you pull the cable out. The owners manual should show you how. You may be able to find the lever on the side of the extension housing that the cable should attach to and move it and then secure it with a zip ty or similar to hold it off.

When driving the car the green light will come on at about 60 from memory. Once the light comes on you lift your foot off the gas and it will automatically change into overdrive. Then the green light goes out.

They are a complicated set up. Better off with a 5sp.
