Default Help me design my zorst - 1MZ AW11

    For a track only AW11 with a 1MZ...
Need to piss off the Camry engine "h" pipe and make something a bit more free flowing.
Idea is to keep parts (mufflers etc) to a minimum for cost and weight.
I need to include a single WB02 so have the idea of an equaliser pipe and put the WBO2 in that... not sure if it will read properly placed there.
Not sure if I really need the flex pipes either in a track car.

Here's a rough picture of my current design... discuss!

    - you will need flex pipes unless you make the hanger in such a way that the exhaust can twist with the engine

    - if you wanna be fancy, figure out the ideal length for the primaries before the collector and make them that long.

    - after the collector just run a big fat straight pipe

    - o2 sensor can go in any of the runners, just pick the easiest one to access

Avoid doing this. Put it in the exhaust where you have both bank secondaries merge. At least your getting an average O2 reading over the whole motor then and not just off one bank which could be running learn or rich compared to the other side. Ideally, you want an O2 in each bank where the primaries merge, but that's a bit more expensive.

    Reasons for avoiding that knightrous?
Also never planned to collect into one pipe because i want 2x 2.5in exits on one side.

I've changed the design now to delete the muffler.
    more discuss.

if it was me, i'd be fitting an "x" pipe to the system like this: http://image.musclemustangfastfords....all+X_pipe.jpg

if you look at most V configuration engine exhaust systems, somewhere after the headers the system merges into a single pipe, or will run a crossover ("X") pipe. after a bit of googling i found most top end performance exhaust systems for many V6's and V8's run crossover pipes, or merge into a single pipe then split back into 2. have a look for 350z exhaust systems, there's plenty of manufacturers making them, all the ones i found have a balance pipe or merge into a single tube.

here's a V8 supercar muffler (http://competitioncoatings.com.au/cc...%20Muffler.JPG) Note the 2 banks enter the muffler, but the exit has 3 pipes with balance tubes linking it together.

there's obviously reasons behind merging the 2 banks together. i'm sure someone more schooled in exhaust tuning can tell us why that is.

crossplane crank v8s have an odd firing order which is why you need the crossover pipes

*I'd recommend fitting a crosspipe also for equal noise and less rasp.

    *basis on recommendation is unfounded...

Similar for 90* V6 that also sound like anus. Proper 60* V6 are much nicer sounding. 1 with 2 individual exhaust systems would sound different. 2 3 cylinder engines in sync with each other.
