    Default 4AGE Pricing/ recommendation

    Hey All,

Thinking of plonking a 4age into an ae71. Just wondering what pricing to expect for:

    Bluetop 4age?
    Redtop 4age?
    Silvertop 4age?
    Blacktop 4age?

Furthermore, any ideas of whether any of these would be more preferable in terms of not having to get it engineered? (technically correctly, not just what can be 'gotten away with')

    - and any suggestions/ recommendations of where to get it from?

Redtop will be the cheapest and decent enough option, expect to pay $200-400 for one from a FWD Corolla + whatever you need to RWD it. A 20v silver/blacktop is the best option but they are $1200-ish and a lot of them were abused in Japan rather badly it seems.

By the book any 4AGE will need to be engineered in Vic.

And unless you are very patient and have lots of time, I'd recommend getting a complete, running engine or package. A cheap "99% complete" motor will cost you much more by the time you track down and buy the 10 missing bits. A written off AE82 or 92 could be a good start.
I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.

to think I sold a BT 4age for $400 NZD a couple of months ago (before departing for aussie).....

    Sounding like smallports the go.

Hen, sounds exactly as I expected. The VIC engineering rules seem odd to me though. I have been over the website and the 'trigger' for engineering seems to be whether the engine has been swapped as a 'non optional' for the particular vehicle - hence I agree that any 4age conversion in an ae71 would require engineering - because they didn't come with them.

However, whats the go/ what rules apply re coilovers/ suspension mods? is this the rwc rules rather than engineering requirements? where can I get a copy of the rules for rwc?
