I'm not an expert, but i would imagine the first step would be to get hold of a T18 cross member, this should allow you to bolt the motor in easier (same engine family). Thats all I've got though, google will be your friend, i have seen some info around, but haven't bookmarked it (i'm doing a quick and easy 4age into my ae71)

T series crossmember is only setup to run with a steering box, your car should be rack. So you can either transfer mounts from a T series crossmember or custom make them. Try here for a bit more info -

    the other problem is legality.
You would have to find evidence that the engine was manufactured more recently than your AE71. Im not 100% up to date on when 3TGTE was manufactured til.

if you able to get a ke70 crossmember, i have a full conversion kit to bolt a 3T block onto xE7x. That include engine block to K cross member adaptor, heavy duty rubber engine mounts, W5x crossmember suits xE70x, and rubber gearbox mount to suits. There will make your 3T into AE71 far too easy.
Pm me if you are interested.

Best part is this... The 3TGTE will bolt onto the AE71 crossmember using T18 engine mounts... Two options for gearbox... Either the W55/W58, using a 1G or 3TGTE bellhousing, which will mean a minor bit of firewall modification (about 1 inch of bashing with a hammer did it for me) to clear where the starter motor lump is on the bellhousing... or a T18 bellhousing with a AE86 T series, due to slightly stronger internals... Unless you're doing a fair bit of building to the engine, and getting close to double the power, she should handle it ok. If you're using the W gearbox, take the front tailshaft section from a MA61, and bolt it to the rear section of your original tailshaft, and grab a round file and elongate the mount holes... you'll see which way they need to go... about 2 or 3 mm from memory.

I've put this setup into a T18, and checked the mounting on an AE71 crossmember, as we planned to change to rack and pinion.

Hope this helps... If you run into any specific questions, feel free to PM, and I'll do my best to dredge through my memory...

I have a 3tgte in a ke70, I change to the engine crossmember mounts to t18 (i.e cut the t18 mount off a t18 engine crossmember and welded onto ke70 crossmember) do not try and do it by eye, bolt the t18 engine mounts onto the engine (i.e the block mount, then rubber mount, then t18 crossmember mounts) position the engine on the crossmember in the engine bay and tack together, any other way and the rubber mounts end up skewed and will eventually fail. I find the engine sits on a slight angle toward the passenger side.

The sump will hit the rack, right near the steering column shaft, get a sledge hammer and belt it in. I also cut and shut the engine block mounts to sit the engine lower in the engine bay to allow a modified manifold to fit and lower the engine with regard to the raditor height. In lowering the engine I had no problems with the fire wall/starter bump. Tail shaft I used an auto T18 shaft front with a rear ke 70 shaft when using the standard diff before upgrading to a r31 skyline diff.

Gear box crossmember, an auto t18 crossmember can work but needs to sit back about 50mm I used some angle, welded on the gearbox crossmember to shift it back.

    All in all easy conversion

    Roger
