All you need to compete is a roadworthy (unlicenced, yellow sticker ok) muffled Street Car or Bike and clothing requirements as below;

Road worthy closed cars (Sedans/Utes etc): Min clothing, a helmet and long sleeves, long pants and enclosed footware.
Road worthy open cars (convertibles/roadsters) slower than 12.99 seconds (1/4mile)/8.50 (1/8mile): Min clothing, a helmet leather jacket or bike jacket with appropriate inserts, full face helmet and visor full leather gloves long pants and shoes and socks.
Road worthy open cars (convertibles/roadsters) faster than 12.99 seconds
(1/4mile)/8.50 (1/8mile): As per ANDRA rules ie: roll cage, arm restraints, harness, etc

All Motorcycle riders need a recognised riding jacket with appropriate protection inserts, or leather riding jacket, long pants ankle length boots full leather motorcycle riding gloves as minimum or preferably full bike riding leathers.

All drivers and riders must hold or have held a civil drivers licence.

Obviously there are various levels of protective clothing required in any type of motor racing depending on vehicle modifications and performance.

As we are concentrating on the entry level street type events we will cover the basics that are required to compete.


While all safety equipment is important none is more important than your helmet. Below is a list of approved helmet standards required for Drag Racing at Perth Motorplex;

SNELL SA2000, SA2005, SFI 31.2A (US)
Note: For Cars only


SNELL M2000, M2005, SFI 41.2A (US)
Note: For Motorcycles only


AS/NZS 1698:2006 (AS/NZS 1698)
Note: Suitable for both Cars and Motorcycles

For vehicles slower than 10.999 in the quarter mile open or full face helmets meeting one of the above standards is ok.


Note: Cars quicker than 11.000 and Bikes quicker than 10.000 must use Full Face Helmets bearing one of the markings above. Also the helmet must be in good condition both inside and out.


Ok, now we have the helmet situation sorted we move on to clothing;
For Street Cars you will need long sleeve shirt or jacket, long pants and covered in shoes and socks.
For Street Bikes you will need a leather or purpose made riding jacket, long pants and covered shoes and socks. (leather gloves are highly recommended)


Ok that's about it for our personal safety items, now it's time to go racing!

Passengers/Additional Drivers
Introduced last season, the ability to take your mate, your girlfriend, your next door neighbor - even mum or dad! down the track with you was popular.

This activity is restricted to cars 12.00 seconds and slower*.

The passenger simply has to pay an additional $15 at the gate, go through scrutineering with you and your vehicle - and you are good to go!

AND - they can even drive your car also (if you let them!) with you as a passenger.

ANDRA licenced Super Street racers down to 11 seconds can apply formally to ANDRA to also have a passenger. (7 days notice minimum required).

TAKE NOTE OF THE HELMET REQUIREMENTS CAREFULLY, IF YOUR HELMET IS MORE THAN A FEW YEARS OLD AND DOESN'T MEET ONE OF THE ABOVE STANDARDS, IT MAY NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Don't wait until the day before to check!

Due to huge numbers you're best coming much earlier than the 5pm entry time!

Riced up toy of Death > any other contender, I will even replace the non painted pieces of interior trim I installed today for the painted pieces the car came with - just for the night.
