    Default AE86 springs in a ta22

Seeing that springs for a ta22 are like hens teeth and when i do find a set there 3-400 dollars (which i cant afford) there must be another way other then cutting. I have heard that ae86 front springs fit a ta22 but the rears dont, are there certain other model that fit the rears without mods.

Any one shed some light on this?

    Cheers,
    Callum

Bump on this topic. I'm having a hard time working out what to do in the suspension department for my TA22...

Ride height is a big issue with a 3" exhaust running over the differential and under the gearbox cross-member. Being able to fit AE86 struts to the front would be awesome. The rear is a big issue as the mounts (both on the diff and up in the strut towers) aren't made to handle the types of strains they would be subject to with serious upgrades.

I've read countless threads on here about TA22 suspension upgrades, though I'm still no closer to deciding. It would really help hearing what all the combo's drive/handle like. I'd be looking for good track/road combo, leaning more towards track orientated setups for hill climbs and track days, club events, etc...

    Cheers,

ctrain, I have a front pair of lowered kings springs you can have for $110 posted to Victoria if that helps..

Al, my TA22 has XT130 struts up front with weld on coilover sleeves, 7.1kg/mm springs and KYB AGX adjustable dampers. Brakes on the struts are MX62 calipers and RA60 discs - this is a track orientated set-up and it handles beautifully through corners without being bone-jarring. The rear is only king springs but the softer spring rate in the light rear-end keeps the car balanced enough. Whole strut and brake upgrade cost about $1400 to give you an idea.

    Cheers, JB

I have just finished putting ae86 BC racing coilovers into the front of my ta22. I had custom strut tops made to make them a direct bolt in item. The other thing that needs to be changed is the brakes, I had a custom setup with 6 piston calipers made, but you could just fit ae86 brakes and carier plate no problems.

Steering arms on a ta22 are the correct size for the sprinter strut. The car is very low and stiff, I haven't driven it yet as the motor is still out. I have the height set as high as possible and it has probably dropped 4" from standard height, it is a race car so clearance is not a problem for me.

    Cheers,
    Luke.

i am certain that ra23/28 front struts fit a 22
so you can use 23/28 springs
maybe someone can confirm this 100%
