Yeh i have noticed plenty of people selling in their sig. I got neg repped for doing this and i wasnt aware of the rule but now i am clear of it. should we give warning first or just neg them?

thats what the rep system is for my dear! just Make sure you give a proper reason for the neg rep... ie. ad's in signiture,,, people will soon get the picture!

the polite thing to do would be to send a PM asking them to change it.. give them a couple of days then neg rep. Otherwise people like me who have just always had it there might get cranky
I agree with this method, and have been practicing it of late. Better to warn those who may not have read the FAQs regarding the matter than to wield a big rep stick. Infact, I only just PMed a member whose signature is advertising AND about 4 lines too big! Arent I niceOriginally Posted by Draven

yes, this works better if you have a bigger rep power than them.. otherwise just report it to the powers that be
Hi,
Doe a blank line in your sig constitute a line?

I'd have to disagree with this now.Originally Posted by Draven
It says right where you type in your signiture that Advertisements are not alowed in signatures, so there is NO-NEED to even read the FAQ!

Hi,
So we just warn them and give them a couple of days.... or just hit them with -rep (of course with the reason why they copped -rep) and report them to the mods?
Some people may be happy to keep getting -rep. In this case, they still exist on the forums but with an advert still in their sig. Are repeat offenders banished?

Repeat offenders will have the ability to post signatures removed.
Draven as I said earlier, if the link in your sig just says it's about your car and links to a thread about your car something like Dravens MA61 then it would be fine. Basically the aim is just not to have to look at for sale ads in actual signatures all of the time. If people choose to follow the link then they have made a concious decision to do so but if you are just trying to read a thread then you shouldn't have to also look at a variety of ads etc.
cheers for the clarification josh![]()
Personally, I dont see the problem with for sale ads in sigs - as long as they are very short, consise and dont draw attention away from the actual post or thread. BUT, I do believe in the rules system of the club, and do think its fair. Therefore, I do get annoyed by people who continually leave their for sale ad in their sig even though they are daily users of the site and have an above average rep. I keep seeing one on here but dont know how to approach this person without offending him. And Im not into dobbing people in just for the hell of it. But its unfair on the rest of us as it disadvantages us when someone can get away with it and others cant. In other words, why should he be able to if I cant? All in all, its up to the financial club members to make these decisions, I will just go with the flow I guess......

read exactly what Josh just posted. I am not posting a for sale thread in my sig, simply linking to it, which is *exactly* what josh's example is (if you click on the link in his post)
(reason for outburst: undeserved neg rep)
