u sure the faces are straight?? odd to constantly have the same repeated problem like that if everything is square..
hey !
ages ago i was talking to a few of the 4ag turbo fellaz about exhaust manifold gaskets, as i have been making my own MLS gaskets (as the generic ones were blowing out)
i was told that the genuine gaskets are metal. but when i received a genuine gasket, it was composite with metal rings for the ports. is this what you meant by metal ?, i wanted a full MLS gasket. have i got the wrong one ? both part numbers i could find for al 4a 16v engines come back to this gasket.
ive never used a genuine gasket so it could be fine. i just dont wanna pull it down again for something that could have been prevented.
cheers !

yeh everything is perfect. i been using my MLS gasket for 3-4 years without a problem. im changing some stuff and thought id get a new one. if i have to make another i will.
was just wondering if there was a genuine gasket i didnt know about.
admittedly, after they blew (did it twice, 5 or so years ago) i re braced the turbo and all was fine but at the same time i changed to my MLS gasket.

well for one thing theres no such thing asd a genuine 4AG turbo exhaust gasket, but yes the genuine 4AGE gasket is indeed composite with metal o-rings round the ports. seems to be holding up ok on mine. make sure your manifold is machined flat as above.
thanx for clearing that up. reason for me putting "turbo" in there was so id get some of the turbo 4a boys to comment.
everything is flat and awesome. if it wasnt, my mls gasket probably wouldnt of sealed for all this time.
well ill try this genuine "non turbo" manifold gasket, hopefully it holds up.

i know a guy that built a 300fwkw 4AGTE and a few other 4AGTE engines and he said dont use anything other than a genuine Toyota 4AGE gasket as they have the metal port rings, where as some brands don't.
So issue most likely isnt in the gasket itself
havent blown a gasket in years.
a mls gasket is only made up of steal, id rather run one of them and have been, over the genuine 4a gasket. but i have a genuine one here, so ill try it.

Sounds like your manifold is slightly warped.
To use a MLS one you have to get the 20v genuine gasket and slot the 2 end holes.

i made a mls gasket a few years ago and its held up fine without leaks. so as for things being warped and blowing gaskets, that problem isnt there.
i seen them 20v steal ones, but rather not slot holes.
