hold spark plug lead to something metal is a good place to start
Hey
Bit frustrated, came back from 6 week holiday and car wont start. Battery was replaced with new one. Started to turn over had a little pop then nothing. now all the car does is pump fuel and wet the plugs but seems like there is no spark.
Is there a way I can test this or does anyone have any ideas?
Update:
- Car definately is pumping fuel as the plugs get wet.
- When earthing out a plug, there is no spark.
So im putting it down to either, bad ignition module or CAS

K just tested cylinder 1 and arced it off the engine hook and had a little blue spark dancing when the wire is touching directly on a metal object.

Hooked up cylinder 4 also and same thing getting spark. However because i have to basically scrap the wire against metal to get a spark could it be the cca of the battery is too low it had a 325 cca now it's a 270?
Ok update, just had it connected to a mate's car for a jump start. The starter ran heaps harder so I assume that it wad getting enough power to the system. However still didn't start.
I'm getting fuel, spark and timing belt is ok. Wtf is going on

K another little update. I had the plugs out and let the cylinders dry cause its been cranked that many times, while testing the 2nd coil off cylinder 3, it hicupped and started to run then died straight away.
k had a look at the crank angle sensor and the wiring is bit dodgey, so im going to rewire that, however the connections to the CAS when connected up do cause the fuel pump to prime etc etc, but getting no spark happening, could this be faulty CAS ?
anyone got any wisdom ?
checked timing belt hasn't slipped?
1983 Toyota Celica Supra
i can't sayy 100% if it has slipped at any point, however i did take the cover off and felt it and its still very tight, timing belt was done about 5000k ago and is brand new.
It isn't getting spark it seems, i'm just having a guess here, but even if the timing was way out of wack it would still get spark ?
thanks
tested leads, they are showing resistance in proportion to length, tested coils and they too are showing 1ohm resistance for both coil packs
is this the same 4agze with a wolf3d thats in the other post
is there a way for u to check the tune
maybe its lost all the tune settings due to it being a not so superior ecu and battery has been flat for some time
i know microwrecks can loose tune if battery is flat or disconnected for maybe a year
yeah thats a really good point d-a. I had a look through the settings on the wolf and it seems those settings still seem the same as when i left the car.... I think the settings get written to the memory cartridge so the ecu doesnt need power to store the memory, its written onto the cartridge.. i assume so thats basically what it says in the manual.
I'm going to do a proper re-wire on the CAS also that was looking a bit dodgey, Put it all back together and then see how she goes. Could be my lucky day
