    Default Radio Wiring

I suppose that a cassette radio is just about obsolete but having a SV11 its just the right thing. I bought a 1996 Toyota cassette/radio that was made by Panasonic and now want to fit it. I have an American workshop manual and its colours are differant and Haynes one does not show the radio at all. The car has a group of four green and four brown which I assume to be speakers but don't know about the rest.
I wonder if anyone has an Australian manual or one that covers some other 1985 era Camry and has a wiring diagram I would be pleased to know.

Thanks for that Cameron but as you will see its quite differant. My cars wiring is as follows

    Blue with black tracer
    Blue yellow
    Blue white
    Blue red
    Blue
White blue (know this to be power)
White black and double red bands
    Pink blue
    Green red bands
    Black
    Brown yellow
    Brown red

So you can see its nothing like any that I found. Wondered if it was same as SV20?

if you can find power, thats one wire down,
you may also need full time power as well as accessory power, use your multimeter with key in various locations, thats 2 wires down
next is earth, check with a multi meter for continuity, if you find this, turn parking lights on, if you loose continuity, then that is illumination, thats 3(or 4) wires down
speakers can be found by putting a 1.5v battery (any size a,c,d etc...) between left over wires, when you have found the + and - for speaker, you will hear a crackle (place 1.5v battery on and off wires repeatedly- this will drive the speaker, hence the crackle ) thats 8 extra wires done!
all up 12 wires for you.
    hope this helps,
    matty.

and find earth by using either a test light or meter with using your power wire and seeing which other wire lights up or gets 12v. You may receive 2 coming up looking like earth but one is illumination so once you find it flick the lights on and off see if it stays earth if so you have got it. and find acc but just flicking the key on and off see which one lights the test light up.

One way to cheat is goto repco and get one of those harness for your car like I did with my ae92. When u plug into the stock harness the colours will match.
This is going off the assumption that an ae92 wil have same as sv2x and I can't see why not.

Plus it will be neater if u decide to go cd player. You can solder the tape deck harness to the car side harness and plug and unplug they are about $14 too so all u need to do is wire tape deck to harness, then wire your speakers
